  1. Yep, I am not going to install front brakes. I plan on driving it like it is 1920. Forty, forty five tops Todd
  2. Hello, I am finishing up converting my Stanley's mechanical brakes to hydraulic. After I looked at it I realized I may have messed up with the position of the wheel cylinder. It is at an angle to avoid some interferences on the black side and now I am wondering whether I will have trouble bleeding the wheel cylinders since they are at an angle. I can change them to nearly horizontal but I would rather not if I can still bleed them. Thanks Todd
  3. Here are a couple of before and somewhat after pictures.
  4. Hello, I am restoring a 1920 Stanley Steamer. It was completely taken apart when I got it but I can almost see the beginning of the end of the mechanical restoration. So I am thinking about the interior and body work. The leather is in surprisingly good condition considering its age, If possible I would like to keep as much of it as original. Rodents got into it in spots and I am wondering whether it is possible to just repair those areas. I live out the boondocks and there are no upholsterers I can call on to look at it. Is it possible to just replace the damaged panels (pleats?) Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Hello, I am new to this site and I am excited to get involved. I am considering making an offer on a Stanley Steamer that is on the East Coast and I need to get it shipped to the West Coast. I have spent a couple hours searching these forums and after reading the advice I am not looking to go the cheapest route. I agree with Click and Clack that it's the chintzy guy who pays the most. But I have no idea how to find a company that is well regarded. Are there particular one that are considered top notch and reputable. What ever the cost I can work that into my thinking on what I offer. As far as details it is late steamer that needs a restoration and it rolls. It is a sedan so I wouldn't have cloth tops to worry about.
