  4. https://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/d/silverdale-1933-chevy-2-ton-truck/7495813791.html Recently completed restoration of a very rare truck from the early 30's. This truck survived the scrap collections of 40's and a good life of service in Yakima Wa. The entire truck was dismantled completely and returned too like new . The wood cab frame was remanfactured using original pieces as templates with eastern white oak. The engine and electrical completely overhauled. Please see pics and only serious vintage car collector's and people who love these old trucks. It was a pleasure to bring her back to life. text: (360) 689-4006 If this truck were mine, I would consider applying Gilf Oll decals to the doors and maybe adding a light weight fiberglass tank of some kind:

  6. I thought I would try something a little different. "NOT MINE" rules suggest that a single car be presented in a forum post. However, I thought we might engage in a more active discussion if we could compare three somewhat similar cars in similar condition, each advertised at the same price. These three, a 1938 Ford, a 1937 Chevrolet, and a 1939 Buick Special are all advertised at $11,000 each, different sellers, different towns in Washington State. They are all current listings posted within the last 24 hours. I won't take the time to post more than a couple of pictures of each. Click in the Craigslist listing for more. If any of you forum members feel that my twisting the rules here is an egregious breech of forum regulations, let me know and I'll take the post down. What I have in mind is an open and active discussion about the pros and cons of each individual car and, likewise, a discussion comparing them against one another: condition, price, relative popularity in the collector car market, advertising presentation, caveats if any, and your history with any or all similar cars, if applicable. I'll be interested in reading your comments. #1) Original 1938 Ford Deluxe Tudor 2 Door Sedan - $11,000 (Marysville / Lake Stevens area) https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/cto/d/marysville-original-1938-ford-deluxe/7496176665.html 1938 Ford Model 81A Deluxe Tudor Sedan. 7. Contemporary (3-speed) stick shift Valients had a floor shift, unique for Chrysler Corp. cars of the '60 - '62 era. I presume manual Lancers did, too.
  8. Much more attractive, collectible, and popular cars are available in this price range. IMHO, restoring just the interior would put you well into negative financial territory with this one
  9. Goodyear Finally Recalled 'The Worst Tire Made In History' © Photo: AP (AP)Photo: AP (AP) 1st Gear: Goodyear G159 Years ago now, we ran some blogs about what one lawyer contended was “the worst tire made in history,” the Goodyear G159, which has been linked to multiple deaths and has been at the center of dozens of lawsuits. The G159 was originally intended for delivery vehicles but ended up on lots of motorhomes, on which they sometimes failed and led to crashes. Goodyear has known that the tire could be bad for decades, according to court documents, and yet it was never recalled by Goodyear. Until this month, that is, when Goodyear said it would be recalling 173,273 G159s, almost two decades after the last one was made. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had been investigating the tires since 2017. - NHTSA opened a preliminary evaluation (PE17-009) on December 28, 2017 to review and analyze allegations brought forward by a private litigant that the 275/70R22.5 G159 tire contained safety related defects that had caused motorhome crashes resulting in deaths and injuries to occupants of these vehicles. - As part of PE17-009, NHTSA sent an information request to Goodyear on April 3, 2018. Goodyear submitted a response to that information request in May 2018. - After a series of conversations and meetings between Goodyear and NHTSA, by letter of February 22, 2022, NHTSA requested that Goodyear conduct a safety recall of the 275/70R22.5 G159 tire (the “Subject Tires”). Goodyear filed its response to that letter on March 8, 2022, declining the request. - To address concerns that some of these tires may still be in the marketplace or in use, Goodyear has agreed to undertake this recall. - Any person that presents a recreational vehicle containing a Subject Tire will receive a 275/70R22.5 Goodyear G670 tire free of charge. Goodyear will cover the cost of dismounting and disposing of the Subject Tire and mounting and balancing the new G670 tire. Additionally, any person presenting a Subject Tire on a recreational vehicle will be provided a voucher in the amount of $60 to cover the cost of having the vehicle professionally weighed. - Any person who owns a Subject Tire not installed on a recreational vehicle can exchange it for $500. - Instructions to dealers will specify that any tire removed under this recall is to be rendered unsuitable for resale for installation on motor vehicles prior to returning to Goodyear for credit. All removed tires returned to Goodyear will be used by our recycler for various recycling purposes. - Since the motorhome manufacturers that specified the Subject Tires no longer are in business, and Goodyear does not have, or have access to, any registration data for the Subject Tires, Goodyear will issue an information bulletin describing this campaign. The bulletin will be published on certain Goodyear websites and issued to Tire Service Centers and Tire Dealers. Goodyear also will make contact with leading trade associations and interest groups representing recreational vehicle manufacturers, suppliers and owners, and willrequest that the bulletin be made available to their membership, including through publication on those organizations’ websites and/or in their monthly publications. If you own a motorhome, I’d recommend checking out what kind of shoes your baby is wearing. I’d also be remiss not to shout out Jalopnik alum Ryan Felton, whose work on this story has been indefatigable. In the end, it is always a cost-benefit analysis for big companies like Goodyear when it comes to things like this, no matter what actually happens. It only took all this time and many lives.
  10. Is that what they call "Open Carry" in Arizona?
  11. This "tow-bar" was a very common piece of equipment. I recall renting one for just a few dollars a day from a local trailer rental outfit. Many, many non-running cars found their way to my parent's driveway in the '60's. I recall pulling them from all over central California without mishap. Unfortunately this was not the case with the famous "ROD & CUSTOM Dream Truck" when the towing vehicle blew a tire at highway speed and both trucks flipped and rolled. You can see the tow bar still attached in the second picture. Probably not the safest way to move a vehicle. https://kustomrama.com/wiki/Rod_%26_Custom_Magazine's_Dream_Truck
  12. NOTE: The seller is a long-time Studebaker Driver's Club member and is responsible for rescuing/rebuilding/restoring many post-war Studes and returning them to the road over the years. 15. When someone figures this out, please subtract all the fleet purchases - rental cars, government agencies, and any other volume purchasers who are not individuals. Might not leave too many private purchases compared to the adult population in general.
  16. I purchased my last "Factory New" vehicle in 1972. I have been able to live comfortably (wife, house, kids, dogs and cats - the whole catastrophe) without having to purchase another "New" vehicle and not because I couldn't afford one. There have always been a wide selection of cars, well maintained and able to serve my purposes available at very reasonable prices as compared the current year's offerings. With judicious preparation, I feel that this trend should continue. I have nothing against all the latest gizmos, options, lack of variety in exterior or interior colors, etc, etc. I just feel I don't need to be the first on my block or at the grocery store or stop light or church parking lot with a new car. Nor do I need to dump thousands of dollars on the pavement (in depreciation) as I leave the dealership with a new vehicle. ...Just the way I've done it, and it worked for me.
  17. Maybe there should be a new forum section on "Dumb Drivers". https://kutv.com/news/offbeat/utah-highway-patrol-pulls-over-car-driving-without-a-tire
  18. Just like our home town swap meet! ...even down to the kitchen sink! Thanks for all your hard work in sharing your weekend.
  19. 1. Try Craigslist 2. Try Facebook 3. Try the "parts for sale" part of this forum 4. Locate and advertise with the Hudson Club Listing your location, identifying what parts you have, how much you want for them and pictures, pictures, pictures would increase your ability to sell them. Good luck

  21. 1949 Oldsmobile 98 Futuramic "Rocket" - $18,500 (Wheaton) https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/d/wheaton-1949-oldsmobile-98-futuramic/7486522562.html Super nice survivor car! It has the original Rocket engine, and Hydramatic 4-speed automatic trans were rebuilt about four years ago. This year, I took it out of storage, and it started right up. It runs and drives excellent—new tires and battery last year. I can tell you a lot more about this beautiful classic car. At the car shows, we have never seen another 98 Futuramic before. It stands out over the Chevy and Ford's out there. I have way too much money into this car. I am looking to sell it outright or trade it for something in the '50s, '60s, or 70'. Mike 6 three zero, 312, zero three, 2 five.
  22. Regarding Richard Lentinello's publication, Crankshaft, has anyone received their fourth issue yet? I know there has been pandemic related delays, complicated by a move to Tennessee, but it seems to me issue 4 is somewhat past due, as was issue 3. Being "out west" may have something to do with it. I emailed them asking when I might expect delivery, however there has been no response. Am I just over-anxious, or does someone know if there is there a problem? https://www.crankshaftmagazine.com
