  1. One of the members that has been helping me with some Reatta Stuff from ed's collection sugested I post this here.  It was sent to Ed by Nicolo Bulgari Who Commisioned it as a gift to Ed.  It was painted By Daniele Galliano. It is not an item that i feel like is a good Ebay type thing.  Im thinking it needs to go to the right Buick Guy? If interested please let me know. And thank you for looking.

  2. Thanks for all the coments.  I have a ton of stuff we have sorted out to go to the sloan museum.  His wife and I really didnt think this was museum worthy next to a lot of those items. But I will talk to her again and see what she thinks.  They sent us a donation form quite a while ago and It has taken a year to get past his passing and all the other stuff sorted out and gone through.  Each item has to be listed in detail for them to consider.  Bronzed Patents, Documents, His original Chevrolt Lab Coat from his first day of work for GM  and tons of Photos From dealer meetings and new car launches where what we thought would be more Museum Worthy.  The rest we thought by listing and selling would get into the hands of collectors that would enjoy them and preserve them in thier collections

  3. After finally getting thru the inventory of Ed Mertz items and collectibles. I have been asked by his wife to value and sell a few of the items.  The first one I'm trying to figure out is this Award that was giving to Ed.  It seems to be a blow moulded sign made out of some type of plastic. I am guessing some of you sign collectors can tell me.  Or is it better to leave it as is.

  4. A good friend of mine and a past Vice President and General Manager of Buick has passed away.  Edward H Mertz spent most of his life working for General Motors Culminating in becoming the General Manager of the Buick Division and being directly responsible for a number of cars that helped bring Buick to a younger generation.  His wife has asked me to try to find homes for a bunch of Buick and GM items that he collected throughout his life.  Not being from that world I'm not sure where to begin.  Many of the items are personalized to Ed and are i assume a part of automobile history at some point.  A lot of others are not. There are lots of things like plastic cars in different colors that i have no idea what they were for. Pewter cars. tin cars of old Buicks, posters, etc.  There even a 47 Buick steering wheel.  And a original Daniele Galliano, painting of a 1995 Buick Riviera  that was given to him by Nicola Bulgari. Along with a lot more.  I'm looking for information on what i should get to a museum.  And what is the best way to sell the rest for his wife.  And especially I'm hoping a forum of Buick guys can help me identify what some of the items are?
