Back when VWs were still plentiful, I remember the mechanics where I worked hated the semi-auto. But that was a small independent garage so maybe they just weren’t trained on them. I’ve never driven one. My sister had a friend in HS who had a semi-auto bug. I may have asked her about it at some point but my mind would have been otherwise occupied when she was around.

Well, I often ride a bicycle so the car is maybe safer, even without the bars -

More than once I’ve thought about a small electric car for my short commute to work. This would fit the bill but the tacked-on roll bar would have to go. -

This thing has been for sale for a long time. Months and months. Maybe over a year since I saw the first ad. Apparently the market feels it is overpriced. I think it’s a good looking car. If the seller gets realistic on the price it might see the road again. Probably not with a Dino engine. I’d rather see it out driving than sitting neglected, even if that means a swap of some sort. I’d skip the LS and go with something European. No particularly good reason - I’m just kind of masochistic that way.

Speed bleeders rock! I still make sure to put a hose over the end so the fluid goes into a container, but they make one person bleeding easy. I used one on a hydraulic clutch setup that I was struggling with and finally got all the air out. The thread sealant keeps air from getting in that way. I like your solution for your caterham. Brilliant! I’ve never tried the Vacula. Looks like a good option. I’ve used my MightyVac. It works but I’ve had the same issues noted by others. Speed bleeders are easier.

Old cars out on a beautiful day
Gearheadengineer replied to rocketraider's topic in General Discussion
I saw a couple of ‘80s-‘90s Porsches out this weekend. It was 40s and cloudy Saturday, but still wet roads. Saw a 944 go by while I was on a bike ride. Sunday while driving in the rain I got passed by a 928. High speeds so I didn’t try to get a pic. In both cases I was surprised to see them on the road. We had a lot of rain last week so that washed the salt away. But still not great conditions for an old car. -
Yes! Lose the skirts! I like the ‘66 wheel covers better than ‘65 so I’d leave those. Great body style. I wonder if the white roof is how it came, or if there was a vinyl top on there. I own a ‘65 and I somewhat keep an eye on the market for these. I think the asking price is strong for a four door. It does look quite nice so maybe the right buyer will come along.

1957 Nash Metropolitan - $9,000
Gearheadengineer replied to Leif in Calif's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
The first old car I “restored” was a 1956 Nash Met convertible. Long time ago. Fun car to drive. Handling was terrible - crazy understeer with the bias ply tires it had. But that’s not why you drive one. I was young - high school when I got it, college when I finished it. 5219 is right with the comments above - women loved that car. You can fit more (young) people in there than you’d think. I am not looking for one but I do notice pricing when I peruse ads. This is a lot of money to ask for a car with needs. The color is wrong and the interior is very wrong. Can’t tell about rust but assume it’s there. I would guess that’s an MG engine in there based on the twin carbs. -
Forget the hood - these have what must be the longest fan shroud ever!

1979 Ford F-350, not mine.

OK, so now that I have my glasses on and looked at the actual Facebook ad, I would have no interest in this truck. That roof rust is just the tip of the iceberg. -

Is this legit? Seems like a steal for what could be a cool tow vehicle or whatever. -
Only yellow flag that I see in these pics is the jiffy lube sticker! It looks like a nice car. Shiny paint, good options, nice interior. The dash pad looks good - those do not typically hold up well. Power seat and warning light options are unusual. My usual Galaxie caveat: check the frame for rust. Carefully. Everywhere. Tap it with a hammer. These collect dirt and then rust from the inside out. For reasons I don’t understand, the ‘65 and later Galaxies don’t bring the money like the earlier ones. The 7 Litre is the one to have, but I still don’t know if this will reach $40k.
