  1. Beautiful car! looks to be in very good shape! Yeah I haven't posted in a while I wound up moving from Nashville Tennessee up to Covington OH, so things have been very hectic but I actually just started back on the car the other day so hopefully I'll have some new pictures and an update to post soon!
  2. As far as a remote shifter this is what im thinking of doing if anyone knows who made it. I would love to know might save me some time. Of couse I wouldn't use the ford shifter I would use my olds swan style shifter
  3. Hello everyone quick update on the build. Believe it or not i have been working on even though it has been hot as heck down here. While I'm waiting on the rest of the engine parts from the plating shop. I have been working on fitting up the transmission. I've descided to swap in a T5 so that i would have the OD and be able to keep up with modern traffic plus hopefully get a little better fuel ecomey since I intend on driving this thing often. So, as this is an Oldsmobile there is virtually no aftermarket support (unsurprisingly), there was a little trial and error but all the major aspects have been figured out. The bolt parterns were actually very close for the chevy varient of the t5, but the bellhousing does not have a machined pocket for a bearing retainer. I didn't want to machine the orginal bellhousing or really modify any orginal parts just incase i chicken out and want to put the 3 speed back in. So i had to make my own adpater and because i didnt want to drill out the bellgosuing i went with the Ford variant of the T5. First I tried a later s10 T5 which allowed the shifter to clear the X member of the frame and had the ford pattern which allowed me to make an adpater plate that cleared all the holes of the bellhousing. Well when i got it all bolted it i figured out the input shaft was too short. Next i got a WC mustang T5 and swapped the input shaft for the sn95 input which of couse a longer and now it fits perfect. Ironically the the 10 spline input shaft allows me to use the stock clutch which was also 10 spline. For the back side of the trans I had the s10 tailhousing machined for a mechanical speedo and swapped it on. The last thing i need to do is figure out a remote shifter that allows me to use the stock shift location. And have a drive shaft made. As a recap or shorthand notes: - WC mustang t5 - sn95 input shaft -rebuilt orgianal clutch/pressure plate/throwout/flywheel -made my own pilot bushing -made my own trans adapter Still needs: -paint trans -drive shaft -remote shifter
  4. Alrighty havent posted in freaking ever. So sorry everyone. But I have been working on it trying to make some progress. As of recent i've been pulling the car more apart. The fenders and running boards are off along with the grill. Got the frame stripped and primed and and the motor all resealed and painted. The motor was full of the thickest sludge ever but it cleaned up really nice and the bearings and everything checked out
  5. Hi I'm interested in new parts for my 33 Remo set up
  6. Hey all been a while since ive posted anything. The weather was absolutely miserable and am building this car under a carport. Anyway that being said i have tried to continue to making process where i can. I rebuilt the water pump. I was able to get a hold of a NOS rebuild kit. I sand blasted everything and powder coated all parts. Im gonna stick with the silver that someone painted this engine. I know its not stock but i think it looks better then the green and hey its somehting different so why not.
  7. It's truly looking amazong Ted! I was just talking to Terry today about you.
  8. Thanks and sorry still fairly new to the forum.
  9. I started a build thread on my rrstoration bit am now realizing i probably should not have started it under "General" instead under "our cars..etc." is there a way to move the thread without having to start it over? Thanks
  10. I used an old slab of marble countertop that was once used as a sample to deck the block and the head. Not exactly high tech but it did the job. Used a new copper head gasket. And sealed it all back up! You can also see the newly powder coated black valve covers too. I haven't rebuilt the distributor yet just poped it back in so i didn't lose my timing.
  11. Oh i just relised i never posted about doing the top end. Ok so the motor was siezed. I soaked it in a cocktail of deepcreek diesel PB and mystery oil for 3 days and got it to turn really nice. I took the head off and found a couple valve stuck. So i pulled all the valves i have one bent one froze and one burnt valve. I replaced 3 exhaust and 2 intake valves with NOS i found on eBay. Now the motor turns great!!! I of course cut the seats and lapped everything so valves seal nice. Also cleaned up all the valve covers powder coated them black and put new gaskets on them. To get the dang bent valve out I had a friend keep adding wrenches as shims while i used a pry bar to slowly pull it out. The keepers were an absolute pain. I found they had a groove in which i used a rubber band to keep them togther while i slipped the pair onto the valve stem. Then slowly released the compressor until the it held the keepers in place and i had just enough room to remove the the rubber band
  12. Alrighty everyone hope y'all had good holidays whatever you did. I just started back on the 33. Now that the top end of the motor is done I wanna finish up the cooling system. I started with the thermostat. Took the housing apart and found all the parts were still there so i just tested the thermostat but putting it in a pot of water and heating it up and to my happiness it's good! So i will just give it a good cleaning and put it back together. Not sure on if ill sand blast and powder coat the housing yet i go back and forth on it..
  13. STAYGOLD you wouldn't happen to still have this ornament/be willing to part with it would you? Looking for one for my car.
