1948 Mercury convertible for sale. Nice car! Bonny Lebaron leather interior. Frame off restoration 16 years ago. Original owner died and car sat for six years. I am a retired automotive instructor. I got the car five years ago and have done the following work on it. New wheel cylinders, master cylinder, new brake hoses and linings. Dot five brake fluid. Resealed rear axle, inner and outer seals. Overhauled transmission, all new quality bearings, NOS cluster gear, low reverse slider and synchro. unit. Steering box overhauled. When I bought car engine had been overhauled. It has .040 oversize pistons, Johnson adjustable lifters, new valves and guides. Engine runs great with excellent oil pressure. I think the has been driven three or four thousand miles since overhaul. Has 59AB heads. Wiring harness replaced at time of restoration. Six volt. Elec. fuel pump near tank plus standard Ford fuel pump on engine. All gauges work. Hydraulic top motor replaced with modern hydraulic pump. It is mounted behind the back seat and is not visable. New improved water pumps. There is a small stain on back seat and one or two very small scratches in paint. Side glass quarter windows should be lubed and adjusted for better operation.
