  1. Thanks to everyone who helped. I ended up replacing the voltage regulator and we went for a long drive today. When I got back I tested the voltage with the car running and it sat at 6.34 volts. Had my wife rev and it agent up to 6.56. So happy to be driving her!! Thanks again to everyone! Hers a shot of our Lily.
  2. We just bought our first classic car. A 1950 Buick Special 41D. It came with a grin I full of parts some I know what they are and some I don’t. Like this
  3. You have been a great help. I’m ordering a new one just to be safe. I hope the next photo I post is me driving it!!!
  4. I did put the old ground cable back on it too.
  5. Alright. Here are pics of what I have done. Changed the battery cables back because they where working. Disconnect the “batter” terminal from the voltage regulator. And no sparks when putting the negative cable on. Do I need to disconnect the battery and take the voltage regulator off and look inside?
  6. So if the battery doesn’t sparks after I disconnect the terminal that means I may have to replace the voltage regulator?
  7. It’s getting a bit cold and dark out so I will do that tomorrow after work. My wife pointed that out and bought me tape!
  8. Okay had to get a new battery. Went to put it on and got a lot of sparks on the negative post. More than I have ever got. I read the manual and have the battery in right based on that. Should it spark this much? Here is a picture of the battery. Am I doing something wrong? Should I have put the negative on first?
  9. Thank you everyone for all your help. Having to buy a new battery today after work. Will let you know how it goes. Need it to run so I can get it over for the new upholstery.
  10. Looks like I need a charger. Any suggestions? Harbor freight has one for around 30.00.
  11. Okay might be a bit slow but the back of the meter right? Here is a close up of the back and another of the meter and it shows mv. So finger crossed dead battery.
  12. I tried with two different wires with the key in the on position and nothing happened.
  13. Learning a lot. Okay is this battery dead? I put meter’s red on the positive and the black on the net and waited it dropped to 0.00 and never changed with the meter on DCV
  14. So I put the meter on ACV and on DCV and tested on both posted/bolts marked in this photo and the meter dropped to 0 on both settings.
  15. Need to ask another question. I’m not sure where on the starter the ground is connected. On the front there is another stud next to where the battery is attached. Can I use that?
  16. Oh man I just bought that neg braided strap😩
  17. I am able to reach down there and this is the meter I have. Just got it and trying to figure it out. I want to put it I. The DCV setting right?
  18. I did check what fuses were under the dash and none a bad.
