  1. Peter Thanks for this information. Very useful. Greatly appreciated. Vaughan
  2. Hello Pat I own a 1914 SC which has an SD motor in it. The SC motor was in bits when I bought the car a few years. It has had significant welding done on the mono-block, still have to get it tested but am not hopeful that it will work. Currently looking for one with a better block, so far with no success. Thank you for the pages. I have seen these pages before and they have limited information on what I need after pulling apart the EM114 generator, then a noisy, basket case. It has been an interesting process e.g. the bearings are metric sizes and say on the back of the outer casing "PATENTED NOV. 8, 1904". Only one part number is listed in the parts book for this bearing so seems like original? I currently have the rewiring all done so looking for guidance/specs to set the armature shaft end float. Unfortunately the relevant part is not referred to in the SC, SD or the 1915 Wagner manuals I have. I believe the part that I have to play with to set the float for the generator shaft is the "Front end bearing adjusting plate". The Wagner Instruction Manuals for the 1914 or 1915 generators does not refer to this adjustment in any of their figures or text. The auto electrician who did the field coils is somewhat hopeful he can set the fourth brush up by trial and error. He has not seen one of these before. I believe that my vehicle originated in Canada (RHD for colonial export) and is now located in Perth Aus. Not a lot of old Studes located here, so parts are sparse. If you have any info on SC car parts or SD engine parts that would be great. Thanks for your help Vaughan
  3. I am in the process of refurbishing a Wagner EM114 Generator. All wiring and bearings are being replaced. I am after help in finding out the spec (output voltage and or amperage) for the adjustment of the 4th brush, along with the end float specs for the armature? I have a copy of the Instructions for Wagner 1915 Starter and Generator but I could not find these details. Any help / guidance appreciated. SC14MOC
  4. The issue with GL5 oils, as highlighted by Aussi John is that they may contain "harsh"EP additives (eg sulphur compounds) that attack yellow metals eg copper, bronze. There are some around that say they are safe with these metals, so just check with the manufacturer that your oil is safe with the metals in your diff, as previously advised.
  5. Thankyou Dictator27, I will pass it on. It is appreciated SC14MOC
  6. A friend in Houston is trying to work out the make of car that his great grandfather is driving in the attached photo. It was taken in Ireland in the 1920's. It maybe missing its headlights; looks like the car has had an accident and tilted the radiator backwards? Thanks. SC14MOC
  7. I am after a Wagner generator - do you have a model number for the one you are selling? Thanks SC14MOC

I am interested in the round brake/number plate light in the second last photo. Thanks SC14MOC
  9. Recently acquired a 1914 RHD SC Studebaker (Aus). No evidence of ever being a LHD drive, so probably exported from Canada - no body plate survives. It is a "bitzer" with an SC body, SD engine and some period bits & pieces. Its early history is unknown, with the vehicle having been restored back in the late '70s; 4th owner since then. A previous owner used it in several major events and that accounts for the plastic stickers. It is registered and running fine - saves a lot of work before having some use! Recently joined the Antique Studebaker Club and the Historical Studebaker Register of Australasia to improve my knowledge of the marque. My plan is to buy some bits and pieces to make it more original as a lot of the electrics have gone eg horn & lights. Thus an easy update here is to replace the carbide lights with the correct electric ones. This is where I am after some advice – the sales literature says the lights are Gray & Davis, but which model are the headlights (B2 or B3) or a special run? Any help appreciated. I expect that I will be back seeking more advice over the next while. Thanks. SC14MOC
