@BobinVirginia you can buy 5 or 6 (or more) club broughams for the price of ONE 1931 model 41 custom body convertible vic, the latter being twice the price of a 1934-35 production Silver Arrow.  Methinks @58L-Y8 may be having a little fun with you...  🙂 If you were short like me, you could enjoy a Series 80 "for cheap."

One of these days I’ll sell something and go looking! You can bet I’ve gotten a better understanding of what I think is a good car for tours. For now, it’s getting the Haynes road worthy. Gotta say, I was particularly impressed by the road manners of a Pierce I rode in. Passing traffic in this series 80 was a blast!

For people who are curious here is a picture of Bob ……..

I tried to get his best side, but he’s so damn big he barely fits in a car , and I barely had enough energy to walk around anymore.

Unfortunately I don’t fit in some cars very well. Good motivation to lose a few pounds. Yes, you were nonstop everyday!

Here's @BobinVirginia learning the care and feeding of vacuum tanks from me.  The demonstration vehicle is "Miss Helen" (named after her original owner), a Derham-bodied 1926 Series 80 town car with about 40K original miles.  Even as a short guy, I found it somewhat uncomfortable to drive primarily because there is no room to stretch out one's left leg to the outside of the clutch pedal.  On the other hand, an unrestored car of this composite-body era whose body has never been off the frame feels infinitely better to drive than even the best off-frame restoration.

    Good times!

@BobinVirginia don't you dare divulge any of the initiation secret grips and recognition signs!  Great job with the photos and narrative!  It will take a week or more to combine Annie's photos and mine as we're playing catch-up with administrivia here.  We had a great time with you, and hope your brain cells are not too damaged after our evenings' activities 🙂

The Pierce-Arrow Museum was the first single-marque museum at Gilmore 20 years ago.  Over the last six months it was "refreshed" (painted, new storyboards, and much more) by a team of Pierce folks from all over the country.

The brain cells you speak of are conditioned for survival at car events! 🤣🤣

I won't be as much fun to hang around with or nearly as knowledgeable but that offer to make our spaces your home base for Hershey stands.

Hershey is an entirely different deal. Once again, I’m very grateful to have folks like you welcoming me into your world of cars!!! Thanks Greg

Bob, wondering if they taught you the secret handshake or other unmentionable initiation sacraments of the Pierce world.  that 31 Lebaron Club Sedan!!......prrrrrrrrrrr

Other than having to chase a live chicken down the street in my underwear, the initiation was easy! Lol

Yes, I found I’m a Lebaron fan myself

Thanks for the pics Bob, looks like a great time! Anybody that hasn't been to the Gilmore needs to make the trip. What a place! Now I'm certain hanging around all those great cars was a blast, but what about hanging out with Ed and Grimy? 😁

Fantastic!! Best hosts I’ve ever had to anything. I learned a lot just listening to conversations.

  8. I was lucky enough to get invited to the PAS Meet In Kalamazoo, Michigan last week. I had an amazing time riding in and being around some great cars and people! Thanks to @Grimy and @edinmass for inviting and introducing me to the Pierce world! IMG_1256.jpeg.e411021ba5972c54b7b074774fa44f71.jpegQuite a sight when I arrived at the Conference Center parking lot! IMG_1686.jpeg.efb88e07adfdd508d7dd7d03ce0ee131.jpegIMG_1264.jpeg.2002f033da4bfca220959d22b3bea5f5.jpegThe town car I rode in a couple days for a little over 200 miles is an unrestored 1926 Series 80 with a Derham body. The car ran like a top and impressed me. IMG_1268.jpeg.9d15b51b66576e32ef715b68bc11ace4.jpegCoffee and donut break
