  1. Yep, with the valve plugs out and intake off it’d be a good time to pressure test cooling system for cracks and check every other possible issue. Better found at home than on the road! Good luck and hopefully it’s something small or perhaps nothing at all. 👍🏻
  2. It was cloudy today and I was too busy playing with fun things to notice. Good to have friends with toys. 👍🏻
  3. If the intake is a one piece manifold, it’d be good to check it with a machinist straight edge and feeler gauges. Or at least a flashlight on the side opposite of viewing. I hope you get whatever is wrong figured out soon (and cheaply repaired) to enjoy the spring weather in your car!
  4. Sweet! Buick made some cool stuff!
  5. Very nice. Not something I’ve ever done. Just knowing the difficulty of what finish woodworking I’ve done makes me really appreciate this.
  6. My favorite method is using this. What delivers the best performance from and without harming my cooling system. Results will vary depending on application and climate range. One size doesn’t fit all. I’ll just listen and learn.
  7. Could be leaking intake gaskets causing a lean condition. Looks like a lot of heat on those exhaust valves in comparison to the others.
  8. @alsancle Could be a harmonic effect of the engine at operating speed causing the foaming. The oil would certainly dampen the effect and provide a different surface tension for heat dissipation. Always cool to hear things you can learn from. Ed’s a sharp one and I’d say he figured it out.
  9. @alsancle Interesting. I wonder if that would be a common experience with sleeve valve gas engines?
  10. @GrimyYou should be just fine. Typically most cases of cavitation occur in wet liner diesels. Most issues found with a common dry sleeve blocks are linked (provided there aren’t existing casting flaws in certain blocks)to poor condition monitoring and maintenance. You’re on top of your maintenance so it’s doubtful a block like that large T-head will have an issue with this.
  11. @1912Staver Nice to know I’m not the only person that ponders such questions about a car like the Limited. Cool stuff
  12. @EmTee Wow! Thanks for the links. Great information there and I appreciate you taking time to share this with me.
  13. I have a 21 Haynes touring car. The top is a total mess. This is something new to me and I’m wondering where to start with repairing it? I’m good with rebuilding the structure but I know nothing of materials and fitting
  14. From Ocracoke to Mt Mitchell. North Carolina is a geographical dream. The drive across the Lynn Cove Viaduct or the drive across the Outer Banks. I recommend driving your classic in this state!
  15. Great thread with insightful diagnostic and technical information. Thanks for posting.
  16. I’m amazed at the amount of knowledge that some members have on not only the cars discussed on the forum but the comprehensive history surrounding them. Thanks to all. As Einstein said, The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don’t know.
  17. What would be a realistic materials cost for such a restoration? Seems that cost alone would be out of reach for most even if somehow magically a person could do all aspects of the restoration.
  18. I enjoy the section views of mechanical systems. Thanks for sharing
