  1. Awesome thread. The picture here shows Daddy's Toy dragrace car IHRA E/SA 2917 Buick455, built by Melvin Jackson and competing quite successfully in the 70/80s, which was brought to Finland in the late 80's. The picture is a postcard of the Motorpark dragrace track opened in Finland at that time. Car didn’t work properly and was no longer successful in the race and then ended up being scrapped and finally I bought the car. Then I found a different owner for the car's original 455 engine and Th400 tranny, and I have since been returned to the car for street use, but the complete refurbishment it has not yet been made. The car still has the original roll bars, 455 engine and th400 transmission, as well as artifacts from the dragrace history - which I greatly appreciate. Unfortunately, the custom made cheater camshaft was ruined during the break-in phase of the overhauled engine because there was a water leak in one of its cylinder bores that could not be located in time. This apparently explained the problems in later races as well. Now the leak has been repaired by installing a cylinder tube liner in the cylinder block and the engine has a Lunati Hemi Killer camshaft and cylinder heads are ported, heat crossover passages are blocked by casting them in aluminum. The engine has Kenne Bell valve covers installed at the time, which means that it looks as it should, although the intake manifold is an Edelbrock 2146, but the original is preserved. There is major rust damages to the car body and I have not taken steps to repair them. I promised my son a car on the condition that he will do in the future for car body repair and that the artifacts resulting from the cars racing history is preserved. However, he would like to make the car pro touring style, but I said no-go, would prefer to sell this to someone who appreciates racing history and get a regular Skylark for that purpose - the thing he is considering. Greetings to you MrBig, if you follow the thread.
