  1. I don’t know the history and I figured if I replaced all the gaskets I might find out why the last person quit working at restoring/repairing it. Thank you! I found it. This is what I was seeking.
  2. How do I find a thread? I try searching but it takes me to all but what I am seeking
  3. I do have two reference books. I pulled a spark plug and it really looks good. The main reason for replacing the gaskets is to make sure the motor hasn’t a hole in it. Your right, I believe someone has done work to it which makes me wonder why it was never completed. Even some metal work was started but never completed. Everything moves really well on the engine, but, fan belt looks old as Moses. Just draining the oil, so much sludge that it clogged. Distributor clips are rotted in half. This thing is a total conundrum, some things look immaculate while others look old and deteriorated.
  4. OK I am getting ready to rebuild the engine on my 1922 Buick 6/45 touring. Is there already a link for the complete rebuild process? I bought a gasket kit from Olsens, I want to use them all. I do have the Reference books but I believe these are mainly for maintenance. Thank you in advance.

I’m sure it was the same one. I probably passed his house on my way down to get it. For me the worst part is that I work 14 hour shift then drive 14 hours more. It’s great to be young enough to still do this!!
  6. Thank you Frank, it was a pleasure meeting you.

I made the 14 hour round trip and I must say, it was totally worth it. Was able to see a couple of really nice vehicles including an old tow truck. I am now the proud owner of the top of a 6/45 with side curtains. Next step for this is to re-canvas.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the tips and information. I think I will take a road trip this weekend and snatch it up before it’s too late.

OK, the top is now listed on this site. Is it possible to modify a 1919 to fit a 22? I may have to buy a book of parts for the 19 to compare part numbers.

The add is for $650.00 I realize the the canvas needs replacement but it would be very convenient to have the entire frame with bows and window.

The add says 1919 model 45 touring, mine is 1922 6/45. It does have oval rear window.

Is there a big difference between 1919 and 1922 touring tops? I ask because I found one on Facebook from 1919 for sale but mine is a 1922. Are they interchangeable?
  14. This made my day. I smiled quite a bit after reading. I just have to figure the “best” configuration for signals and stop lamp. I like the way Mark Kiktas looks. I think I’ll look into that one. I do live in a rural area, horses still don’t come equipped with lights.
  15. Thank you !! Thank you !! Are the turn signals optional?
  16. Where are you located? I don’t think I have that bar, I only have the carrier for the spare tire.
  17. Great !! Thank you. Would that be compatible with the 22? Thank you, it is definitely a 22. Was the taillight attached to the tire mount? I don’t see any where something could have been mounted on the tub.
  18. This is the tag above the gas tank. I don’t see anyplace on the rear that would have housed any type of light. It does have wood wheels if it makes a difference
  19. All right sorry guys I’ve been sick but here’s pictures of the motor itselfAll right sorry guys I’ve been sick but here’s pictures of the motor itself. The first picture I can’t quite make the numbers out, The rest are just pictures that may or may not help.
  20. Yes, it is a 6 cylinder. There is a number stamped on the housing under the cowl but I think it’s just a stock number. The only tag I can find is on the outside of the body in the rear just above the gas tank.
  21. Thanks Hugh, I will order new gaskets. I will take better pictures of the engine in the morning, I am finding things are “hillbilly fixed” on this car. I think through the years, different owners cut and hacked but not a lot was done properly. This is the reason I am having doubts about the correct year. When I looked up the number that’s on the tag, I came up with a 4 cyl.
  22. Yes, the fenders have are beaded. Thank you.
  23. Hello, I’m Dave, I am in SE Wisconsin. I have what’s thought to be a 1922 but the only numbers I can find tell me otherwise. It really doesn’t matter though because I now can someone’s feeble attempt to replace the rockers. What I really need is an assembly for the steering wheel. I also need the cable that runs through it. I bought this two years ago, finally got it home last year and just got the radiator back from having the tanks repaired and a new, after market core installed. Hugh helped me in getting the correct cap for that, Thank you Hugh. I can spin the motor with the hand crank, its free but stiff, not real stiff but just stiff enough to make me feel like a sally. I don’t want to take the motor apart if I don’t have to. I understand to remove the oil pan, that will allow a great view of my crank and also allows cleaning gunk from the pan as well. Could I run something through the engine to remove the inside gunk? I am working front to back in case the engine is junk I won’t be to far ahead to give up. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. The number is from the rear of the body above the gas tank. Could not find anything on the frame.
  24. Does anyone still have the distributor clips on hand?
  25. How do I know what year my Buick actually is. When I bought it I was told it was a 22/45 But how do I really know that’s what it is?
