  1. I used to have a long list of guys to work on all my g-bodys, but covid has really shrunk that number down, and most newer shops can't fix anything the computer doesn't recognize.... Anyone here from the NY/NJ/CT area that knows a guy who knows a guy who knows his way around a 70's Chevy?? Thanks in Advance!
  2. Closed this out on another site, forgot to do it here. It was the DIPSTICK
  3. Also wanted to note, leak is on the right side if that helps troubleshoot.
  4. Replaced the O ring already when we checked seals. We actually only changed the real seal and pinion, is it possible it can be coming from the Shifter seal??
  5. 1970 Monte Can anyone help me identify what this part is called? I have a small constant drip, empties out a quart in about 3-4 days when parked. Replaced the gasket, added silicone and changed the seals, and it doesn't seem to be leaking from the Torque Converter. We watched it drip while on the lift and it seems like its coming from somewhere inside this part. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
  6. Hello! just wanted to round this thread out before I started a new one. 100 watt Alternator has been working fantastic! also allowed me to add a electric fan switch and a couple other goodies under the hood as well!
  7. Pic of engine is not recent, this was day of purchase****
  8. Update: Sorry for the delay, didn't realize how many diff forums I looked into for help haha Checked the batt cables and volt, did a parasitic draw, checked each fuse for a short and cleaned the grounds Found no short or draw but after cleaning the grounds, the Wipers and dash came back to life, and the car did start back up...only to die again short time later after about a 45 min drive, and require another jump. So what is the problem (or so we think) The current alternator only pushes out 55 amps, and it seems like thats the key issues as everything else checks out. We are switching to one that pumps out 100 instead next Wednesday. Any thoughts or tips in the meantime would be greatly appreciated. This also seems like the most responsive forum so I'll definitely be sure to respond faster. Thanks a lot for all the help so far! My mechanic has considered joining some online forums now to work on some other classics/imports, guess all the tips made him a believer lol Added some pics for show as well below KL
  9. Thanks for the response TerryB, unfortunately Im not :-(. im more enthusiastic than mechanic, ive had gbody’s my whole life with an uncle or family friend who cld always fix them... this is my first 1st-Gen Monte and im working with an independent mechanic now. He is knowledgeable but i always love finding gems of info on these forums! we’re getting started later today and i’ll take this first tip to him! any idea what the proper measurement should be? The battery was tested on the last jump from AAA and they said everything tested fine but who knows since they are just reading whatever the pack tells them too.
  10. Hello all! Kind of a novice with classic cars so please be kind lol... Having some weird electrical issues with my Monte that started with the wipers and dash circuit replaced... The car needs a jump every time to start, but the head and tail lights work just fine. The interior lights, radio, horn and wipers stopped as well. Just replaced new wiper motor, bushings etc so we definitely know its a ground or short somewhere. Just would love some feedback or any kind of help. We have a new painless wiring kit on deck but would love to find other ways to trouble shoot prior to just redoing everything. Thanks in advance!
