I hope the 60K includes the towel, the tablecloth or whatever supposedly is protecting the dash pad!
I am all for Imperials commanding better prices comparatively speaking but this is a bit much; a nice, apparently unrestored example but 60K, it's not.

I have taken some pictures of the fuel pump shield as it's installed on my '35 CZ. I also have attached a bit of a primitive sketch on the dimensions. I would hazard that the shield is made from 16-gauge or at most 14-gauge steel; it's not easily bendable at all. The key also is the 3 studs which protrude up from the pump to mount the shield (I recall the nuts on mine are 5/16) and the cutout to facilitate the pump's vacuum chamber protruding through. In the succeeding posts, I will also attach some additional pictures I took the other day of the car. I tried to take as many pictures of the exhaust routing as possible, lying underneath the car. While the exhaust pipes/muffler themselves were replaced with a Waldron's system some years back, the aluminized pipes still look great and are routed exactly as the old ones were. The rear diffuser is purported to be original, so I left it in place, looks good as it is. The remaining pictures are of the interior gauges (I know the '36s are different, just thought I'd share here), the headlights (I tried to show the cork gasket in place on the glass lenses) and a couple of the engine in both sides of the cowling - looks quite similar to yours with a few deviations. I have thought long and hard about taking the headlight lenses off and re-silvering the reflectors but to date, I haven't done so yet. You should also be able to see my heater hose routing and then my heater inside - it's a simple 2 speed job which kicks the heat to the point I rarely use it and have shut off the T valve. I hope these are of some benefit or just as a reference or fun to view. I love the car and take it out as much as possible. I watched and rewatched your wiper videos...not some much for the wipers but to hear the 8 run...sounds like mine practically to a tee, except your OD keeps the revs down after 3rd and higher top speed no doubt - mine likes 50-55 in 3rd at the most. My wife calls it the 'school bus' as to her that's what the 1 - 2 upshift sounds like...oh well. Best of luck on your continued journey!

The new fuel line is remarkably close to mine, just a length of steel tubing up and around the manifolds; yes there is no fuel filter from the pump to carb, just the sediment bowl on the pump itself.
One thing it appears you need remains the heat shield which rests over the fuel pump. It is a ribbed black metal piece, slightly bent upward with a cut out on top (to accommodate the vacuum chamber of the pump). It mounts on three studs which are attached to the pump and secured by one nut each. You can vaguely spot it on the 3rd picture attached here. I wish I could get a better picture of it but it's mostly obscured by the manifold. I have no idea where you could find one and the best bet would be to fabricate something similar as it's sole job appears to keep the heat away from the pump.
Yes, I will attempt to get some more pictures for you of the car and exhaust routing; I have a heater as well. Unfortunately, I can't access the car until the weekend in most cases as I travel for work. I have been following along on your journey and while mine is a Deluxe Touring Sedan which has sat untouched for decades, the similarities are many between our cars.
Hope these help somewhat and sorry I couldn't get more but will follow-up when I am able, thanks!

Regarding the water pump, you already know the 8 pumps are like rare earth elements; should you choose the rebuild route on one, recommend the Dutchman do the work and ask him to upgrade the impeller to the 6 vane; mine made a noticeable difference on the temperature and it now sits at maximum 160 degrees on the gauge regardless of weather or driving condition.
I had the CZ out in a parade this weekend, took some pictures of my fuel line up to the carb and will send them when I have an opportunity. The '35 to '36 8s aren't much different. Hope this helps, thanks.

Frank Mance Plating Service in Pittsburgh, PA (412) 281-5748 did my '35 Airstream reflectors in the correct silver; beautiful outcome and easy to work with; I had the advantage of bringing them in as I am local but he does business from all over and can easily receive/ship; great guy and really knowledgeable. Does brass, gold, silver plating on a variety of household and automotive items.

Thanks for the reply; I have been changing the oil yearly as you mentioned, though would love to replace my obviously old canister; I may investigate opening it up and seeing if I could replace the cartridge with a modern element of some type, I appreciate the information regarding the bypass operation of this system!

On my '35 Airstream CZ, the battery box has a steel bottom and looks to have never been tampered with; otherwise looks identical to yours. I use a 6v Optima as well (just one) and it fits just fine and works great; I modified a strap for an anchor to the battery hold-down.
Joe - One question if you please slightly off-topic: Have you found any replacement oil filters? Mine is exactly as yours though I have found it most difficult to locate the correct filter, any tips on where to look would be most helpful, thanks!

2 speed PowerFlite transmission; not a 4 speed as stated in the advertisement, that is unless something has been changed from the factory. Quite the nice car!

Nice! 1 of 1,010 for '62. Rear seems to sit a little higher than stock, maybe re-arched or new leaf springs.

And the name of that engine is a Polyspheric 331 CID engine, the Spitfire 331 in Chrysler speak. And yes while based (block/crank) on the Hemi engine of the same displacement, the cylinder heads, pistons, and associated hardware are completely different. A little misleading to refer to it as a hemi or a 'Hemi-engine design' but I like the car nevertheless and believe it's honestly represented.
Advertised for such a length of time, the car reminds me of this one below which eventually sold for a similar price then apparently flipped:

So, a rubber fuel line starts leaking so instead of fixing a relatively minor item, they shove the entire car outside to deteriorate?
Such a shame for this car and makes no sense. Yet, I like what I see in the photos and believe this would be a worthy project to resurrect and get back on the road. ID is a long way from PA but something like this a bit closer would tempt me to finally get out of my MoPar comfort zone and get a car I am not at all familiar with.

I've used Karps Power Brake Service several times and was always pleased with the results; master cylinders/power brake boosters/brake hoses made, good stuff!

What an odd place for the aftermarket windshield washer reservoir...why there?
Love these later '60s C Bodies...stone ax reliable and easy to work on. Not particularly flashy, but they look good and get the job done nicely all around.

Put the New Yorker away for the season yesterday! Such a nice Fall day for trip to my storage building not too far north of Pittsburgh, very pleasant drive in one of my favorite all around cars.
Had a bunch of little stuff to do this year to it, starter and solenoid rebuilt mainly due to an intermittent no-start issue earlier this year; the solenoid needed new windings and also rebuilt/polarized the generator - almost done except the hubcaps, which I hope to refinish over the winter.

The '65 and '66 Imperials look potentially salvageable for the right person; not a lot left of the '64 Imperial convertibles, 2 of the 922 built that year which will never see the road again. Such as it is for most of the rest of the lot here. Let's hope the parts can make their way into other projects.

Another Chrysler product with an amazing price! I agree, I would grab this with no hesitation; about 5,230 or so Crown Coupes made this year (and that was the high water mark!), the proportions on the Coupe are just about perfect in my view; my favorite year Imperial without question, I own a LeBaron and a Crown Coupe and the engineering that went into these cars defy description. Great cars, seldom seen and still relatively affordable or in this case, another steal! I wonder what a contemporary Lincoln or Cadillac would look like for $4800? Much rougher I am sure.

I had the Flying Dutchman (water-pump-rebuilders.com) upgrade my original 2 vane impeller (identical to yours) to a 6 vane impeller when he rebuilt the water pump for my '35 Chrysler CZ. It can be done with your original pump. I did it as part of the overall water pump rebuild; a worthwhile hidden improvement, I'd recommend it and the Dutchman, top-notch!
