If you're handy with wood, you might consider building something custom to your specifications. You could have it upholstered to compliment your interior. I can't imagine something like that would be too expensive and would definitely be better than a chunk of plastic from Walmart or Amazon...
Good idea. I'm not that handy but my wife is so maybe I will hire her to build me something. Thanks!

Has anyone had success (or can vouch) with a 3rd party console (i.e. drink cup holder, storage, etc.) that fits over the hump (not on the seat) of a bench seat Riviera? I have a 71 and until I'm able to swap out the bench seat I'm looking for a good quality center console to put in. I'm looking for decent quality versus cheap. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Mike,
I was referring to the floor mounted shifter console I'm not sure I was aware there were more than the two options (bench seat or buckets with a floor mounted shift console). Sorry if my description above was confusing.
Thanks

My 71 Riviera currently has a bench seat. I have the opportunity to acquire a set of buckets (and maybe the console) from a 1973 Riviera. Can someone tell me if 1) a 1973 bucket is the same as a 1971 bucket seat and 2) what other issues there might be in swapping from the bench to the bucket/console?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

How about a "Rumble"... of Riviera... has a certain ring to it...
That’s a great name. I was going to use “a codger” as a plural and singular name.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I'm very excited to get the rally wheels on my car soon and shake the car out of its winter slumber.

Thanks! Do you view them as more time period correct or just better quality? They seem much more expensive unless I’m reading it wrong.

1/2” X 20 tpi. Left hand threads on the left side - 1963 only. JEGS, Summit have chrome acorn nuts if you have Rally wheels otherwise you local jobber should have the common lug nuts. Most likely they will be listed for a MOPAR.
Is this applicable to all the Buick Rally's? I'm looking for the chrome lug nuts for a set of 895's (71 Riiviera). Will the Bulge Acorn Lug Nuts on Jegs work for that and does it matter whether it is the Short of Long set? Thanks!

Is the radio in your car a stereo unit? Most of the Rivieras that I’ve been around have a full wiring harness. Add an accessory and the wring is already there - rear defrosters, rear speakers, etc. the only secondary harness would be for power windows. Even as late as the 90s could you find unused harness plugs. I bought a door panel for my Roadmaster wagon to replace a cracked one. The new panel came from a car with concert sound. I found the wire for that tweeter and it played immediately. Had to go back and get the panel for the other side. You will in all likelihood have to remove the rear seat and package tray to find it. Make sure that you have a wiring diagram and know what color wire(s) your looking for.
Thanks, I do have the book so I know what color it was. I think when I use the word hub I am referring to the wiring harness. I will take the seat out this week and hope for the best. Thanks!

Can someone tell me where the "hub" is for where the rear speaker wires would be connected? I've used the wiring diagram in the manual and know what wire should go to each speaker but I'm having trouble actual finding the hub that it should come from? My thought was I might have to remove the rear seat but thought I would ask before doing so. Also, any thoughts on where to get new wires, as one is missing. Thanks!

Does anyone know of any other options for finding speakers for a 71? Unfortunately, Turnswitch is in transition and stating it could be months and Wood Radios in Canada is having stock issues. Thanks!

if you conduct a search on this forum or Google "'71 Riviera trunk cardboard installation" you will find a post submitted by Seafoam with some great tips on how to handle the cardboard. The post is specifically about 1st gen. Riv but the handling of the cardboard is basically the same. The location of the pieces should be self explanatory, but hopefully a '71 owner will chime in soon with more info, specifically about placement & attachment points. The earlier Rivs have clips(somewhat hard to find) & pushpins(any auto parts store) holding them in place. I assume the '71 is similar. good luck
Thanks Rivnik, that post is very helpful. As you said hopefully I can find someone with a 71 to post a pic of what their cardboard looks like.

Thank you everyone for your replies! My next question is if any 71-73 owners can provide me a picture of how the cardboard should go in? The cardboard was non-existent when I bought it and there aren't really instructions in the set I got from Cars. Thanks!

Thanks Everyone! I found a set so hopefully I'm in good shape. Now just to clean up a bit and put on new center caps.

I’m redoing the trunk on my 71 Rivier and have two questions.
1. When we removed the carpet there was a thick cardboard type liner on the floor of the trunk. I assume this is original and wonder where I can get it as it is not part of the kits sold by CARS. I attached a so-so picture for reference.
2. I was thinking of sanding the rust and repainting the interior of the trunk. Any idea where I can get the Platinum Mist paint or any other thoughts?
3. Why do my pictures always show upside down?
Thanks!

Wow, here is a SWEET one:

Less than 39k original miles! I suspect this one won’t last long!
They do accept trade-in's so if I can get them to take my wife for at least $75K I might have a chance.

Hmmm… apparently I can only post pictures upside down. Doesn’t seem quite right.
I have this problem often. Would love to know what the fix is.

Someone had posted this one on Facebook from Gateway Classic Cars. Seems very unrealistically priced at $98K but if anyone wants to give me $90K+ for my 71 Riviera I'm happy to discuss.
