  1. I appreciate all the replies and everyone seems to be taking the same information highways I've been down. This is the 2-5/8 bore with 3/16 rings engine I'm going to add one more quart, total of 3, run it and see what transpires. I'll let you know what happens Thanks again
  2. Oil was drained and two quarts put it at the top petcock. The engine runs, I wanted to verify the level prior to starting it again. Between the oil pan mounting flange and the block is a solid "restriction" plate with two drain holes, front and rear, to allow oil back to the pan and four dimples for rod bearing dippers to collect oil. Oil is supplied to the front and rear main bearing journals via side mounted oil pump and external copper tubing. Yes this is a Continental engine used in numerous applications.
  3. Started there and they direct you to the AACA forum for possible answers. Hopefully someone may have some information.
  4. I have a 1915 Saxon with the 4cyl Continental engine and I'm trying to determine the proper amount of oil for the engine. The oil pan has two petcocks on the side, one half way and the other near the top. Filling with two quarts of oil the upper petcock will start to drip. Is this all of the oil they hold? Just want to verify before running the engine. Thanks for any info!
