  1. Send me your e-mail and mailing address and I'll send you paper patterns and pictures of what I did. As another post mentions, this is a pattern of an old boot. I did fit it to my car and make a few notes to clarify. My family has done upholstery for 3 generations since the 60's so I may assume a lot. Use at your own risk.

  3. I did try searching online but will keep trying
  4. Does anyone have a source for 1920 seat leather? It's all original but the front seat bottom is getting pretty bad and I would like to stay as close to original looking as possible. It has a straight line grain. All I'm finding is more of a dot pattern.
  5. If I cut it up for a pattern I'll certainly send a paper pattern. I'll let you know. As I said I just have to see how it looks next to the new top which I'm assuming won't be great. Re: the flap, not sure I'm going to figure that one out. The top and paint are the only non original parts of the car so it's not necessarily correct.
  6. Unless it's a better match with the new top than it looks now (still waiting for material) , I'll either send you the pieces or a paper pattern if you'd like.
  7. Update: I dug a little deeper and found the top boot buried in a box marked side curtains.
  8. Overall it's a 3.25 diameter. The hex measures 2.13. Overall length is 2.06. Threads, near as I can tell, are 2.625 hub od with about a 16 threads per inch pitch.
  9. Thank you. That was my guess. I'm going to make one but it won't look stock as I have no pattern.
  10. Any chance there's at least one of these for sale somewhere? All of mine are beat up but original. One is really bad and can't be screwed on anymore.
  11. I'm Just starting to replace the top on my Touring and am wondering what a couple of things are for. What are these 8 "lift dot" posts for? The rear window and material have been removed. Top Boot that I don't have? What is this flap for? The rear window &material have been removed, this was inside with the snaps attaching inside the same bow it's stapled to. It just makes a loop that hangs above the window inside.
  12. Simple question. 20 big 6 touring. Am I able to just drain the engine by removing the lower radiator hose or will there still be be water trapped that could freeze?
  13. Number 6 is knocking. Any sources for at least gaskets? Rod bearings? I don't want to disassemble if parts are not available. Also noticed bubbling around a couple cylinder head nuts like a leak.
  14. Well look what I found buried in my fathers stuff. Surprised I haven't seen this before now. This should help immensely.
  15. I only know that the dippers were all there and everything was nice and clean. Didn't know they could or should be adjusted. I'll try grounding each plug and driving tomorrow, weather permitting. Turning the packing nut a little fixed the problem. Thank you.
  16. Noise seems consistent while accelerating under load but I can't hear it at idle. Also, is this the water pump packing nut? Do I just tap it tighter with a punch? Sorry but can't find a service manual anywhere. There's no dipstick that I'm aware of. Just a float.
  17. Looking for a few opinions. My 1920 big Six Studebaker runs good but has a knock that I'm not certain is normal. I know old engines are noisy, just wondering if I should plan a rebuild this winter. 25k miles, 1 family, mostly all original. Runs good otherwise. Doesn't use oil. Had the pan off last winter and everything looks great. New clutch Lining and radiator core also. Now the water pump leaks badly and I'll need to tear into it again anyway. Can I even get parts if needed? Any idea where I can get a repair manual?
  18. Found 1 circlip in each end. Removing it still doesn't allow disassembly. I can move the outer race about 1/16. Should there be a circlip in all four? Can this be repaired?
  19. 1920 studebaker. Thought I was in that section. Sorry.
  20. I've got 2 bearings on one end spinning in the carrier causing improper wear. I can find 1 circlip holding the outer race to the carrier. The bearings will not come out even with it removed and I don't want to assume using a press. So do I press? Should there be a circlip on all 8 (4 each end) bearings? This looks like a simple sleeve bearing, not a needle bearing as in newer vehicles.
  21. Any sources for u-joints? Or whatever it's called. Looks like I've got a siezed one rotating in the housing. Are they held in with circlips or snap rings? Still cleaning, pretty sure they've never been touched.
  22. Still haven't been able to find a service manual. Can someone tell me what this is? I guessed a screen for oil. I broke it loose but will not come out easily. I'm concerned if I just tighten it back up the gasket will no longer seal. Can I just twist it out or am I looking for trouble. This started just wanting to change all fluids.
  23. No. Didn't even know I'd be able to find one. Thank you.
