  1. Wow! Thanks everyone. So many splendid responses. Looks like that Mitchell is a dead ringer, but I'm amazed at how similar the other two are. Tell me this: how was it the various auto manufacturers weren't suing each other left and right over design infringements?
  2. Hi all! This is my first post, and I thank the admins for allowing me to join, and for hosting such an excellent resource! I could very much use your help and expertise. I am doing research on a film by Orson Welles, called "The Magnificent Ambersons." For those unfamiliar, the film is a drama about a wealthy family's decline in fortunes, set against the rise of the automobile in the first decade of the twentieth century. There is one automobile in the film I have been unable to identify, for which I would be very grateful if anyone here could provide help. I've attached several photos of it below. Now the hitch is, the car is I'm trying to ID is, in the film, made by a fictional company, Morgan Automobiles (loosely based on Ford or possibly Studebaker). So the car in question may not be a PURE make or model of any one manufacturer. It may well have been modified by the production. It therefore may not be possible to match it precisely to one make/model. The scene in which the car appears is set in roughly 1904-1905, though I wouldn't be surprised if there is some anachronism here, and the car in question may be a later model. If anyone can pinpoint a real life automobile that is CLOSEST to matching this one, I would be ever so appreciative. It would be invaluable to my research project. Best Wishes, Brian R.
