  1. Jon: Were metering disks always used, and is their sole purpose fuel economy? I ask because modern repro carburetors do not use them.
  2. When did Detroit Lubricator start putting metering disks between the dashpot/metering pin and the aspirating tube in type 51 carburetors? I found a January 1932 Service Bulletin that mentions it, but nothing before that. It mentions that it is important to get its orientation correct when rebuilding, but I am considering rebuilding it without the disk using a new non-concave ended metering pin.
  3. 1930 Buick model 44 roadster with a 257 cubic inch, 80 HP 6-cylinder engine, 3 speed transmission, 118” wheelbase, oak wood-spoked wheels, and rear mounted spare tire. Beige body with tan molding, brown pinstripe and black fenders. Same owner for many years. Recent mechanical work done, runs and drives well. It is an older restoration of a solid car that has stood up well. Good chrome. Odometer shows 16,069 miles but I cannot tell if it has rolled over. Sold on a bill-of-sale. Price: $31,500 negotiable Please call with questions or to view, Lou, 508-873-2140 (Holden, Massachusetts), email lltella@hotmail.com
