  1. I have 5 acres and it takes me about 20 minutes to cut grass as the most. All but where my house sits is heavily wooded. And what I have in the front yard is nothing by moss and weeds which usually doesnt require a good cutting until about the end of May. But I do cut the grass at my mothers house. She's only about a 5 minute trip away which is nice but it takes twice that long to hook up the trailer and load the mower and other tools. I usually spend an hour cutting grass and hour talking then come home. So its a half day job when all is said and done. I actually enjoy cutting grass and spending time with mom is a bonus so all in all its not too bad. Today will be the first the cut of the year, then once a week until November.
  2. Gasket was fine, installer (me) goofed it up. My builder had the stat housing in the wrong direction. So I took it off to locate it correctly as well as paint. He had the gasket in place so I let it be. First time installerđŸ¤ªI put the stat on top of the gasket. Not until I took things apart and took the original gasket off did I realize that there is a recess in the manifold for it. Put back together correctly this time and had about a 5 minute run with no problems. Next big thing is the exhaust however I need to get the drive shaft in first. New UJoints, no problem. Or so I thought. This thing seems to fight me at every step. The factory set them in some kind of wax, I melted that out but still need a press to remove them. One thing I do not own, so off to the shop tomorrow to take them out.
  3. Wasnt there an ad here awhile back with many vintage vettes being sold from an estate? Is this a continuation or part of that?
  4. That was the cream of the crop about 1980, now about as dated as a vehicle could be. Dont see many but still may be priced a bit high considering the amount of work needed. And this is one vehicle that DEF needs black wall tires.
  5. I have no problem with car flippers, however is it an unwritten rule (or perhaps it is in writing) that one must take a picture of the newly aquired car right after its placed on the trailer?
  6. I always carry a spare, and tools to change in/on my trailers. The ONE time I borrowed a trailer that did not have a spare ( I should have known better ) wouldnt you know I had a blow out. NOT FUN. No matter what kind of trailer you end up with GET 2 SPARES!!!!!
  7. Thats a shame, but am I remembering correctly that after last years event there was some concern regarding the venue? Also with the new event in Miami the same time as Amelia how long will that one continue to draw a large crowd?
  8. Although I do not disagree with 99% of your comment, I am reminded of a video I saw awhile ago about a guy that built a 1000+hp early 60's mopar(I think, may have been a ford). He was video taping for some hot rod channel, the throttle got stuck and the car took off down a very busy street, rear ending a hapless driver by in a mini van. Pretty much destroyed the hot rod, and the 2 occupants suffered quite a few injuries. Later they made the comment about the brakes werent quite up to snuff but they took it out on the road anyway. Every time I hear of a high horsepower build, or see a blown monster of an engine I cannot help but to wonder how safe it really is. On a local cable access channel just the other night they spotlighted a fellow with a late 60's riviera. Again, he was proud that the motor was 1000+hp, it had the rear tubbed and giant racing slicks. When asked if he was going to take it to the track, the guy said he would not, it was just for driving on the road. Seemed a bit irresponsible to me, but what do I know anyway................
  9. I see some of these old buildings still in use today with a business usually at the opposite end of the spectrum. I wonder if the people in them now knew about the history and what they originally were?
  10. Im going to mark this one on the calendar. I am in Lancaster frequently this would make it extra special. When I saw the 'Great Race' was going to be coming through md and pa I got a bit excited but seeing the preliminary route it looks like it will be too far to the west.
  11. I have seen a few Model A chassis for sale over the years of which the body of the car suffered the same fate. I think it would be cool just to have a fully restored running chassis, but time, and storage for what would be the same as a fully functional car limits me.
  12. I used to look on racing junk a lot. I just did a quick search and there are lots of trailer but they all seem to be new. If you have 40k burning a hole in your pocket then the sky's the limit. I did find a place called best choice trailers, not too far north of you in Carlisle pa. They have hundreds of all variety's for sale. The prices seemed pretty reasonable as well.
  13. Beautiful job! Will look forward to seeing you at Hershey. I am at the point of putting my car together now and can feel your pain and frustration getting panels to fit. I thought an F body (GM) was bad but this thing is crazy by comparison. If you look back to the picture with the monkee sitting on the ladies lap, you can see how badly the dr. door was fit.
  14. Well before my time, LOL. I was born in '64. My bicycle years were all about banana seats and ape hanger handle bars! The bikes with the shifter on the horizontal tube were the best. I had a good friend with all of the above only his had an actual steering wheel instead of handle bars. That one was the one bike that I wanted more than anything.
  15. I had a fellow give me a title to a model a. It was in return for a favor. I had not expected it. I was going to frame it for wall art.
  16. Cool parts and kudos to both of you (you too Billy, LOL). Nothing intelligent to add, but I remember Pop having a fit when they were attached to his new cars. I would love to have one for my cars, one I havent looked for yet, the other the dealer seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth without a trace, perhaps aliens were involved? I have a friend that had one 3d printed for his car. There is an AMX that I see at local shows that still has the dealer tag from my town. The owner bought the car new. Its a cool piece of history as my little town of about 1200 people had an AMC dealer, a Dodge dealer and a Ford dealer all at one time!
  17. I should have added that my truck is also the twin turbo ecoboost 6. The mileage stinks! According to the computer I get just less than 16mpg on a daily basis. We were traveling a couple of hours each way on clear highway for a job and we averaged about 18 mpg. I had a v8 in my previous F150 and got the same mileage. I was concerned going from the 8 to the 6 as far as power and pulling was concerned but the 6 has just as much power. I just wish the economy reflected the smaller motor. I will add with tools on board we tip the scales at 7000lbs.
  18. I know opels, my best friend in hs had a GT. As well as remember the cadets well. Just never seen one of these sedans.
  19. You may not want to hear this, but you may be better off looking for a new one. Im about 2 hrs north of you and used trailers in my area typically sell for not much less than a new one. The ones that are cheap or reasonable are clapped out and need extensive repairs. It would make a nice road trip but you can get a better deal from a factory direct seller, just have to drive to Indiana or Georgia to pick it up. Good Luck.
  20. Western Auto was the big store in our town. We all had wizards.
  21. These are reproduced as to what vehicle I dont know. I am sorry for no more information but I may have seen the service advertised in old cars? I do know they are not cheap, I think I heard that a body tag was several hundred dollars! I would not have a problem changing the body tags for something shiny especially if the rest of the car has been restored, however I would keep the originals in a very safe place! As for the VIN tag, def a no no to mess with that one.
  22. Its a cool car, but I have enough projects right now. I do wish you the best of luck with the sale. As far as location, I am 40+/- miles from Baltimore, about the same to Philly, maybe 60 or so from DC, 120 miles will get me to NYC or Richmond, so yes as far as Im concerned Wells NV may as well be in the middle of nowhere, Sorry no offense meant.
