I have quite a few rusted out spots on the drip rail around my '51 Buick roof. I can't for the life if me find where to buy or how to manufacture drip rail. Any suggestions?

Try Flying Dutchman water pump service in Oregon.
Great. I'll send it up there and you can drive it down and help install it. I probably should have just called you direct.

I took my water pump apart and it definitely needs replaced or rebuilt. I dont mind replacing as long as it's either Old Stock or at least American made. I will not have any chinese made parts on my car. Any suggestions? I spoke with Egge.com, they can rebuild it but the back plate of the pump has a hole in it and they cant remake that part. I also spoke with Bobsautomobilia. He doesn't have any more original pumps.

We found new old stock bearings at www.bobsautomobilia.com for our rear end. The inners were OE but the outers turned out to be chinesium. So ask before you order.

If you've been watching our progress..... we haven't made much in the last few months but it's more progress than ever. I just had shoulder surgery so I'm down for the 1st time ever (41 yrs old). The floor is almost completed. The trunk pan is a pain in the ass to build from scratch. We put in our wood order from a company called JB Donaldson in Arizona. We got the transmission back from being rebuilt AGAIN. We actually had it "rebuilt" 25 years ago but it just sat in the shop, not being used. We took it to a trustworthy tranny shop to go through it and make sure it's good to start using. Turns out the shop that "rebuilt" it 25 years ago just cleaned it out and reused the same seals and gears.
We're not having much luck figuring out how to make or buy the roof rain rails. We need to replace about 20 inches of roof rail. I have a bead roller but I cant find any attachments (if they exist) to make our own. Does anybody have any good suggestions?
Only a few pix to add this time.

Work is slow but continues on my '51 Super 50 Woody. We would like to convert it from a 6V system to a 12V. Is this as simple as just adding a different generator/alternator or is this a huge pain in the ass?
Edit: A little more context, this car is completely disassembled. There is no existing electrical system. A friend of my father's was an aircraft electrician. He's building a wiring harness for us. We're planning on. Adding an electric power steering system and a modern stereo (placed under the dash)

Today's progress. We raised the body up in 1997 when my dad started to focus on wood working. Today we brought the body back down. It was held up by channel rails and I-beams, lowered down by block and tackle.

Does anybody have any leads on full wood kits? We're looking into JB Donaldson in Arizona. It's a shit load of money.... any other hints?

Thank you. It's slow progress but it's still progress.

After a quick conversation and reading through all of your comments and lectures (hahaha) we've decided that were just going to stick with the stock drums. Wilwood has already said that they will refund them. Now the search for bearings begins. I'm hoping they aren't very hard to find.

Notice that the OP has not been back and probably will not be back...and I call that a loss for most of us.
Stress? Any brake, drum or disc will lock the wheels at least once at any speed and the 'stress' will be the same.
Sorry for the long delay. I work odd hours sometimes throughoutthe week. I am heading to the Buick in a few minutes and I will check the grease seal. The directions provided are crudly drawn sonits hard to tell which side is which.

Do my eyes deceive me? It looks like that grease seal in the rotor hub is in backward, if it is, is the rotor seated on the spindle? John
The seal looks as if it goes in the opposite direction but it only fits in the position it is currently in.

We bought a Wilwood disc conversion kit for our 51 Buick Super Series 50. Everything fit great until I tried to attach the new brake caliper. Apparently Wilwood brakes skipped the 51 series 50. Their website lists it, however Wilwood has confirmed that their kit does not fit. The bracket that attaches to the spindle to mount the caliper is not big enough. Does anybody know if the '41-'49 spindle will fit on a '51?

You probably know this but there are a few on eBay now and some nice ones pop up for a reasonable price now and then if you have patience. Best of luck with your project. Nice big shop!
I actually found a guy in california that has new "old stock". Bobsautomobilia.com

I'm having my 51 Straight 8 (263) rebuilt. I bought new rings, pistons, bearings and a few other parts. The shop that is building the engine called me to tell me that they lost 1 of the main bearing end caps. Anybody have any leads on where to find them?
