  1. If it's cheaper to plead guilty by mail (whether you are or not) than it is to argue your position in court, then it's a money grab, not a fair application of the law. The fees to appear are onerous and are collected up front, regardless of the outcome.
  2. Probably a stupid question, but where are the exterior door handles?
  3. The season is basically the same here in Chicagoland. I don't drive mine after the first salting of the roads in the winter, or until after a couple good rains in the Spring. But if the weather is nice in February I'll drive around. The semi-organized shows usually start in mid-April, but a lot of planners are a little cautious because people avoid the rain, so there is no point in planning something that doesn't have a good chance of good attendance. And for those who are in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Kansas, I maintain a google calendar of all the events I know about. You can access it by going to http:/www.calendar.google.com and then search "Heartland Region Car Shows and Cruise Nights" and you'll have access to it. It also has AACA, BCA and ROA events around the country.
  4. Second that! It would be easier for them to just sit in their own garage for the same result.
  5. I've been thru the ads already. No luck yet but not everyone has responded, either. And I'm not handy, nor do I have a place to work, so it's better I find a pro to do it for me.
  6. My 1973 grille is materially fine, but the finish is chipped and warn. Is there a way to refinish it? What is that process called so I can ask the right question. Or do I just need to find a replacement? Same question for the trim around the tail lights. There's a metal trim ring, and that horizontal center bit in the attached photo. It doesn't show there, but both lights need restoration.
  7. I would imagine that the heat, etc., isn't ideal for any type of coating. As for polyurethane coatings, mine is about 4 years old, and is holding up very well.
  8. As the title says, need the right outside mirror (no remote cable, etc. needed) for a 1973 Buick Riviera. Must be in top condition.
  9. My lone vintage is not unique, nor a show-stopper. But I don't care. I go to shows for the fun, the education, the camaraderie, etc. I'd probably feel differently if I were bringing something truly unique. Modifications are so personal in many cases I doubt that there will ever be a consensus of what is the "best" modifications on a car.
  10. I don't know if you'll have any luck, but Hagerty has a search service for their customers. I haven't used it yet but they claim to have resources to find parts for you.
  11. "completely restored .... odometer not working" makes one wonder. the pix make it look sharp.
  12. I would imagine that the pandemic slowed/halted production on a lot of shows, as well as the various strikes in Hollywood. While not all the trades were on strike and the reality shows didn't really need writers, some of them halted work in support of the creatives.
  13. Planning a caravan along the length of Route 66 Chicago to LA, in 2026, if you're interested.
  14. In Santa Fe, Pasqual's just off the square. Get a reservation. Probably the best restaurant in the city. There is an Italian place also south of the square. Don't waste your time. There was a place we ate breakfast that features Hatch chiles, northeast of the square. Spend time on the Canyon Road. Tons of art shops, from the conventional to the obscure. I also recommend breakfast at Hotel La Fonda, again on the Square. Most people go to the chapel with the freestanding staircase. It's ok but not spectacular. The railyard area is fun. The fanrail trip south is ok, but $$$ for what it is. Cumbres rail line is much better. I've heard Sazon is very good. Never been. If you have the time, drive to Taos. Spend a day in the pueblo and an evening in town. The Taos inn has great food.
  15. I THINK the ezpass works everywhere east of the Mississippi. You can check it online and update it to say you're hauling a trailer. Or not.
  16. As an amateur myself all I can tell you is shoot more and more. Fix it in the camera, and you won't have to fix it in post. If it's a static image pay attention to backgrounds and aperture. If you're shooting a moving vehicle, keep your shutter speed low if possible, to get some wheel blur, and compensate your film speed and aperture accordingly.
  17. Ditto. I looked at images and tried to find that option on the ROA site. Nothing. Since the car I saw them on (online) was modified in many other ways I assumed it was just another mod, although the owner claimed they were an option.
  18. I used to clean carpets and furniture for a living. Hot water is really not worth the effort. We'd use it mostly to make the customer feel better. The ONLY difference is that it evaporates quicker, but IMO the squeeze isn't worth the juice. You'd need to get that water up to well over 100 degrees to notice a difference and even then it wouldn't be much of a difference. You'll see faster evaporation with moving air than warmer water.
  19. Did Riviera offer a color matched exterior mirror option? One that is more rounded like the 70s camaro and mustang?
  20. I don't know much about those cars or if that is a good price, but I really like the look of them.
