1931 Chrysler CD8 Roadster Rebuild Diary

Thanks for showing your method. I have been putting off pulling mine for almost 2 years. Someone in the past has done a pretty good job of screwing up retaining nut so I will have to address that first. Thanks to you I am more confident I can tackle mine. Kurt M -
Period images to relieve some of the stress

https://packardprovinggrounds.org/2021/02/15/riding-the-rails-in-canada-in-a-packard/ Interesting website about what I guess to be the same automobile. 1924 Packard 226, was being driven by Austin F. Bement and E.S. Evans of the Lincoln Highway Association across Western Canada from Winnipeg to Victoria (Vancouver) for a promotional highway tour in 1924. At this time, many of the dirt and gravel roads in this part of Canada were impassable by automobile. And the only route through parts of the Canadian Rockies was by rail. So the Canadian National Railway gave the men permission to drive on the railroad tracks when necessary as long as they gave trains the right-of-way. One shudders to think what would have happened if Bement and Evans had met a train on this trestle or in the tunnel pictured above. In 1924, Bement was Vice President of the Lincoln Highway Association. Evans was one if its founding members. The Association was created to promote the Lincoln Highway, which was dedicated in 1913 and stretched from New York City to San Francisco. It was the first transcontinental road for automobiles in the United States. -

I have sent my VIV and registration to the Chrysler Historical Group more than once and never have received a reply. Previous discussions here have had varying degrees of success.

I still have no response. Recently I contacted the Lars Corporation who submits to the magazine. They are also aware that there has been no response from the magazine owners. Their submissions are posted in PDF format on their website. -

1931 Chrysler Coupe on BAT
jukejunkie1015 replied to suchan's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
This page I found helpful on the 1931 Chryslers. Like any mid year design changes they may show up on any of the versions. It is the depression use all the parts made till they run out. Proof of that is the 1932 CD De Luxe were being made. http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/CHRYSLER_1931.html -
Learned to drive in a 1947 International KB3 when I was 13 on Forest Service logging roads. First car I ever owned was a 1931 Model A coupe which I took my drivers test in. My mom drove a 1963 Fold Falcon Furtura with a factory 4 on the floor ( I totaled that one in High School). Next stick was 1963 MG B followed by a 1962 TR3 A. In college it was a 1956 Mercedes 219 straight H column shift. Next I got respectable and drove the Volvo240 series vehicles till they did not offer a stick anymore. Now it is the Ford 1998 F-150 5 speed or the 1931 Chrysler. If my 2019 SLC 43 Mercedes-AMG had a pedal on the fool rather than floppy paddles on the steering wheel it would be even more fun to drive with 9 speeds. Guess I need to feel I am an integral part of the machine rather than only a passive passenger pointing it in a direction.

Good luck finding the exhaust manifold, grill louvers and crank hole cover. The last 5% can be a lengthy and $$$ process. -
Skinned Knuckles Magazine Gone?

Looks like we are all screwed. At least some of you got issues till September. Integrity seems to be a fleeting virtue today, lost to pure greed and apathy. -
My subscription ran out in April and renewed with PayPal that month. By July, I realized I still had not received a new issue so I sent off an email but received no response. Today I tried a web search and found their web domain has expired. Anyone else having the same issue or are you getting your magazine? Kurt M

Gave it a shot but my books stop at 1934 so it has to be after that. Chrysler of 1934 only goes to 654652 and no numbers higher than 6 digits. Kurt M -

I have lost hours of sleep over this beautiful automobile. Why do you have to be so far from WA State? The drama of getting my 1931 Chrysler from Denver to Seattle was bad enough. I will continue to dream, thank you for listing it. Kurt M
