    Hi Classiccarjack,

Please update us after you inspect the car.  We look forward to more info and pictures!

    Best of luck!

    Hello 6T-FinSeeker,

I didn't take any photos....  Here is my sad story.

I showed up with the asking price in cash in my pocket. I had high hopes this was the one car I was dreaming of. Once Roger opened the garage door I got to see the back of the car.  The reverse lights, and taillights were perfect other than pitting on the chrome.  I opened the hood and gazed upon the 301.  They started the car for me.  It sounded great!  After looking over the interior, and looking into the engine bay, there is no doubt that this is a 30,000 miles survivor car!  Wow!  I was so surprised and excited that I couldn't believe it!

Then I looked down at the grill area.  All of the chrome on this car is pitted, not a deal breaker, but some of it was really bad.  At the edges of the grill, looking through the bottom areas where the sheet metal is, I saw heavily corroded steel.  Oh oh...  I  thought....  Then I felt sad, something wasn't right.  I then got on my hands and knees to look down the lower sides of the car.  The passenger front fender is bondo'ed flush with the body.  The left side at least had a groove molded into it, but also full of bondo.  The rockers are full of bondo, and the quarter panels are skillfully molded with bondo.  Sigh...  Devastated and heart broken, I thought this car was the one.  I spent days with fantasies of driving this car everywhere.  Now my dreams were fading fast...  ugh

I am looking for a car that I don't have to completely strip the body and restore it to remove a lot of rust.  I already own two other 1955's like that, my 1955 300 and my New Yorker Deluxe St. Regis(2 door).  I asked Glen and Roger if they were firm with the price and their faces both went sour and I felt as if like they wanted me to leave.  No negotiations were on the table.  $12,000.00 firm.  And Glen said he has a buyer in Viasalia ready to come and pay the asking price.  He also mentioned that people are willing to pay top dollar for a car in this condition.  They seemed like great guys to me, I hope the guy in Viasalia is looking for a rusty car, and will pay that price to help Roger out with making the sale.

If people are flipping cars like this by modification of a newer driveline system and reselling it as a "patina" thing, maybe it would be perfect for that kind of buyer.  I am looking for a solid rust free car running or not. I want to restore one that won't cost me months of time welding, fabricating panels, and reconditioning all of the sheet metal. I build my own engines, transmissions, rear ends and do my own wiring, so that being said, a restored car by someone else, in a color I don't like, isn't something I desire.  Perfect chrome is not existing on a machine this old, so I am not being unreasonable, just realistic.  I saw one rust free 2 door Windsor sell in Arizona in past December for $3200.00.  I wish I would have known about that car before it sold!

I guess the search is on.  I am not being cheap, I just don't have time to dump into performing massive rust repair into a third 1955 Chrysler.  Nobody makes panels for these cars.  Everything you see would have to be shaped by Hand.  A lot of work...  I hope and pray to find a good 2 door with good sheet metal on it.  Engine or not...  Fingers crossed that I can find a good 2 door Windsor Deluxe.

I want to a have an all original car, not a car with Ford suspension and a Chevrolet drive train.  Or a rust bucket with a LS in it with a custom frame.

Here is my penny's worth of what I saw.  This car is a 5 hour drive away from me, and I wouldn't have traveled far to look at this car if I had know about the hidden rust. I owned a Mopar restoration shop for over 12 years.  I am familiar with rust repair and I am good at it.  This car can be saved, and it worth being saved, but I feel it should be at a lower price for what needs to be done to it.  If it was a complete Chrysler 300, different deal.  But it's not even a Hemi car.  This car has potential, don't get me wrong.  It is just not for me at $12,000.00.

    Hi Finseeker,

I did reach out, and Glenn let me speak to the owner of the car.  I am now trying to find a way to get time off to go look at it.  Fingers are crossed!  Thanks for sharing the post here, you are a big help for those of us looking for one of these amazing cars.

I looked at this car.  The guy is fixed on getting over 6000 buckaroos for it.  It is rusted out under the doors, floorboards, back stainless behind the rear window, and in the front hood and cowl area. The chrome is pitted, and the left front headlight ring is broken. It is a complete car, but will need a lot of work.  I offered $4500, he declined the offer.  I feel I was to high with my offer, and after thinking about it, grateful that he declined. I just really want a 1955 Chrysler Windsor or a New Yorker 2 door.  But I prefer to find a rust free car, running or not...

  5. I will be interested in looking at this car after the end of February.  I am currently purchasing some land and will need to complete that task before buying another car.  If the original poster is still willing to show the car, I really would like to go see it.  I really like this car!  I own a 1955 Chrysler New Yorker St. Regis and would like a Windsor also.

I have a 55 300 also that's in really rough condition - I'll check the glove box in case someone at sometime put an extra in there- I have the one that was on the car but I'm still debating what to do with the car, it's one of the best 50s cars produced in my opinion. I think my best approach to getting this thing going again will be to find a donor 4 door to get some of my rusted out stainless pieces. Here are a few pics of my 55. Funny thing I need the hood emblem you would have one of those by chance?

No hood emblem or ornament came on these cars.  They were really stripped down.  Your car is in better condition than mine is.  I hope you save it.

  7. Anyone come up with a 1955 Chrysler 300 trunk emblem?  Mine was removed from my car before I bought it.  I found a new reproduction front emblem.  Please feel free to contact me at (619)454-1396.  I appreciate any help that I can get to help me save my car.

I just tried again with no luck. She has fallen off the face of the earth. I will be off the road in about 6 months and be off the road for a while to have knees replacement. I'll go to the house if I can sneak in. Might be hard with her being a Judge.

Any luck???  Please call me later if you found her.  I know how busy you are, and if you didn't get an opportunity to look her up, I understand entirely.

I just happened upon your site. I'm in the process of restoring a 1936 D2 4 door dodge sedan and having been trying to find a replacement flywheel for the engine. Is there any chance you have one? There's some other items I could use as well but this is my number one priority.

A lot of the early and late flywheels interchange.  The eight hole and four hole do interchange.  The most important thing is the ring gear diameter.  Just be sure they match so The starter will have good engagement with the ring gear teeth.  I have had to do this a couple of times with no complications.  A stock engine will be OK with a 4 hole as long as it isn't beefed up.  I put a 8 hole flywheel on a 4 hole crankshaft(201), and it fit perfectly and didn't have any issues over the last 14 years of use.  I no longer have my stack of flywheels available as I sold them all off.  Hopefully the information will help guide you along.

    Hello

I have obtained a stainless steel prototype that I sold to a gentleman over 12 years ago. The current owner was kind enough to send the excellent example to be used for making another mold for investment casting. I will be casting using sterling silver with hardening alloys. Using silver reduces the expense of chrome plating, plus the plating washes out a significant amount of the precise detail of the hood ornament. The silver can be polished and then coated with clearcoat.
The first castings are very expensive and I am trying to keep the final cost below $500. I plan to produce at least quantity 20 and the cost will be $450 each plus shipping. The cost of silver is around $28 per ounce and the 1934 Plymouth hood ornament requires approximately 5 ounces. Please let me know if you would like to be included in the first batch of 20. I use the lost wax method for casting and shrinkage is less than 1.5 %. I adjust the mounting holes to allow for this minimal shrinkage.

    Thanks,

He dropped by yesterday and brought the one that he had made. He didn't have an original to copy but his looked pretty good.

He has a pretty nice center section that he fitted to.

We took mine off of the car and he took measurements and pictures. He found that his curve was a little off, but I didn't notice that.

He works at a machine shop and wants his to be perfect copies.

I suggested he make some better kind of way to attach as we now know that the originals will fall off of the car with the right bump.

(ask me how I know that) I keep mine zip tied from the rear.

Nice guy, I wish him luck.

Contact him thru this C/L ad above should anybody be interested.

His ad expired, can you share his contact information and some photos please?
