Is this a permanent addition or just a temporary visit? I'd like to see it in person but don't have a 4ish hour one way ride in me right now.

That is surprising and excellent news!
Council Bluffs seemed like it had a pretty big old car community when I visited last year...I was only there for one day but saw nearly a dozen old cars. That would make it seem less likely the thieves would be able to do anything with a stolen car, considering it was likely known in the area. I don't get people's thought process some, er, a lot of times.

Last night I dreamt that my family bought a 1930s art deco style tanker truck that was large SUV sized. The design, which I remember, is not anything I've ever seen in a lifetime of being addicted to cars.
I don't think I've ever had a dream about any commercial vehicles before, let alone buying one.
Anyone else ever dream up a vehicle that doesn't exist?

That's me getting onto my brother's Ford Focus.

I can't take credit for it, I found it on Facebook.

I hate those crying baby dolls with a passion. Way more than any rational person should have. They make me seethe.

I just got my 2023 US Mint catalog today and when I turned to the American Innovation Dollar page, I discovered my new favorite US coin, supplanting the Augustus Saint Gaudens $20 of 1907-33.
I don't know what the pioneer era car pictured is, but I recognize the Duesenberg and the modern Indy car.
Unlike the $20 I'll actually be able to add this one to my collection. The question now is coin collection or automobilia collection?

This thread reminds me of the episode of the Simpsons where Grampa Simpson says "my car gets 40 rods to the hogshead and that's the way I like it"

A few years back I drove through their parking lot taking pictures, lol.
My Cadillac knowledge is not particularly high. I can tell it's a Cadillac but years and models? That's an educated guess at best.

Why buy a car with problems of provanance when 98 percent of the time you can buy a real car for the same or close money. The smart move is to buy the best car you can(history and condition.).....in the long run cars with great histories always do better.......as a return on investment, and much easier sale when you want out.
Oh I agree completely, but we are in the minority in the hobby.
I generally don't even like the performance models, and I hate "clone" cars with a passion.

After reading this entire thread, one thing is in my mind that has only been glossed over briefly...is that the (eventual) buyer and seller probably don't care if it is original or not. The vast majority of the car hobby doesn't care much about that sort of thing. To borrow a term from outside the hobby, we are the "lunatic fringe". We are not the norm.
I'm Proud to be part of the lunatic fringe, by the way.

When I'm being overly sarcastic I usually put [/sarcasm] at the end.
I've forgotten most of the code I used to know but that stays.
A lot of social media is people just trying to be the worst person they can be just to take joy in hurting people. Those are not good people...

Thread titles are changed here all the time...the fact that this one wasn't and a worthy thread was deleted seems like a punishment rather than a moderation choice. What would have been a title the thread would be changed to? I can't think of anything that would be more descriptive.
I read the thread last night, and the topic title absolutely fits. You had hope for this woman's career.
As I've learned repeatedly in life having hope for something rarely turns out, and life beats you down again and again. I'm at the point where I'm afraid to enjoy anything because it seems like the better a thing is that happens, something worse is going to happen to offset it.

There was an article in Model Cars Magazine that had a detailed history of the car including blueprints if I remember correctly. Unfortunately I'm too scatterbrained to keep my magazines together and in order so I have no idea where it is for checking.

I love the looks of the Rivian. I don't care how it's powered, I care about form and design. And I love it. I've seen three on the road, all of them last week.

Ford's Lev-A-Car was compressed air powered and built for, I believe, the 1964 World's Fair. Only one was built, it was too expensive and impractical to actually produce. AMT made a model kit of it.

Hate that I'm going to miss it this year, I'm going to be especially upset if some of my most wanted to see cars show up, like the last time I skipped Rhinebeck and one of the GM Futureliners was there.
At least this time I'm doing something fun instead of missing it because my stupid body can't handle the heat.
It's just a straight run up Route 9 for me...I suppose that means I'll just have to appreciate the 2024 show more.
For anyone thinking about going or not...do it! It's a heck of a lot of fun! I have lots of photos from previous events on my website, link in signature.

Fyi...the restaurant attached to the Tennis Hall of Fame just about three doors away from the Audrain Museum has the best mashed potatoes I've ever had.
The new joke in the family is that future visits will be to get potatoes and the car museum is the side trip 😃

I took over 1600 pictures so needless to say I will not be sharing them all, but here are some from the Factory Stock builds...you can see them all on my website here: NNL East 2023 album | El Camino Billy | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.
AMT announced three new tools, a 1971 Dodge Demon, 1963 Ford pickup and 1960 Ford pickup. They made a 60 back in the day, but the tooling is long gone, so they made a new one.
Muscle cars are the most popular kits
There were more heavy commercial builds than usual
OK not stock, but mine. I'm known for only building what's visible on a finished model, no engines or underside detail.
The two Kodak cars and the Onx car are mine also.
This was my favorite build of the show.
Yes, the NNL started because of the GSL in Utah, which is where I'm going next week.

Yes, I have some of the issues I've picked up at shows over the years. Fun to read! A few of the guys who had builds in the magazine are still active in the hobby.

I ended up being the official photographer and shot a whole lot of pictures...I'll get them processed tomorrow, too exhausted tonight.
Terry, I moderate a group on Facebook which is nothing but model show flyers. If you send me a pm with your home region I can let you know when I see any. There are some in almost every state, although the northeast, Ohio and Indiana are the most populous with shows.

Wish I had known, I would have come up. I'll take any excuse I can get to go to that area.
