    1935 Auburn 653
It's time let the next curator of our beloved Auburn enjoy and care for her. The Auburn has been in our family since 1937 and will be a great driver quality, entry into the world of ACD, Auburn-CORD-Duesenberg.
Auburn's have a rich heritage in the automotive world with many innovative engineering features for their time. This is a four (suicide) door sedan with the Lycoming 6 cylinder and a Columbia two speed rear end, six speeds forward, two speeds in reverse.
This is a documented, Auburn Certified car that spent it's life in Connecticut until it came to the PNW in 1989.

I do not need help selling and if the ad is up, it's for sale. Please respond with your phone number in the email and I will contact you with additional information.

    What a lazy moron.

Possibly, but I'm thinking either "clickbait" (seller actually has 5 old wrecks and this photo is to get you to imagine what they would look like restored) - or - it's a scam.  The pictured car, if running is very valuable - a lot of people would know this.  The potential buyer reaches out and gets a story about how the poor seller lost storage and needs to get rid of these quick, etc., etc., etc.     There are many more ways to properly market nice Corvettes than this overly brief ad, with a few tempting shots, a $1 price tag, no phone number and a relatively remote location (not the middle of nowhere - but not exactly easy to get to -unless you happen to live close).  Buyer beware.

The photos are a little odd, though. Car is in focus but background and even foreground aren't. Looks photoshop-y.

An experienced photographer with the right camera can play with the depth-of-field to achieve what I simply call "selective focus."  Example below.  I think that's part of what we're seeing.  The secondary question is, is the car really that shiny - or - did someone use the new AI (artificial intelligence) image manipulation software to enhance the car's look?   One can only answer that question by examining in person - unless the Seller will give you some unadulterated simple cell phone pics.

Red and blue lights are popular with the low rider crowd.

May also have a siren under the hood.

Can't see the wheels from those shops.

The car is also listed on the LayItLow.com Lowrider Forums...

Advert Copy from that forum on Mar 21, 2022 says:

"Absolutely Beautiful Classic Car! 1949 Packard Deluxe Eight 22nd series, large white wall tires, color is Black cherry and silver top, triple plated chrome, new upholstery done to the original look, grey carpet, trunk is finished with spare white wall tire, the motor is original 288 cubic inch with 64500 original miles, runs strong and quiet, does not smoke. This car is a 6 volt positive ground, straight eight, all gauges, clock, radio, lights, blinkers, windows, door locks all work. The block has been flushed and Evans coolant is now in the block. I need to move this car out from my garage because I have a new vehicle coming in. I dropped price from 40K to 30K to move it. This car is mostly original with a few minor upgrades. This car looks like a gangster car, it naturally sits low and has original fender skirts. This car runs great but like all old cars they need TLC all the time, this car holds original history and I hope new owner takes care of it. I can be contacted and I will tell you all the upgrades. 805-280-1944"

Thinking this solves the riddle of the red lights.

  6. I spoke with the owner.  I think this car is exactly what Matt is looking for (...not).  The car has not been driven since the mid-90s - sitting since.  At some point in the past the engine has been started/run off a gas can and battery - but nothing else could be tested.  Car was an amateur restoration in the 80s (paint coming off all over).  Needs everything (e.g. brakes, complete interior and most all chrome redone.  Matching numbers, but, wrong carb and no air cleaner (nothing covering that carb - except hood).   Here is the best part: electrical wiring is "poor at best."  Owner bought it for the drivetrain for another Cord convertible - but ended up selling convertible before starting project.  Owner's price ideas based upon parts value, i.e. supercharged drive train plus other parts.  Restoration of this car would be challenging to accomplish for less than buying a car in better condition - IMO.  Owner is refreshingly friendly, open, honest and frank (ACD lifetime member).

The "442" designation confused me and maybe somebody can explain.  The car has a 122" wheelbase so it should be 422 the way I understand it for a 1934.   It is the smaller "F" straight eight.
