  1. This text is simply to thank everyone who helped me by bringing new information, dodging inaccuracies even coming from me, through the language and the lack of knowledge about the subject. You are amazing! So amazing that you answered my question precisely, taking into account characteristics that, if I were to write the topic today, I would try to eliminate using a few more restriction filters. Even limousines were taken into account, and I, laughing, was forced to think "yeah, they're absolutely right. I didn't say I didn't want limousines to be included as results." I'm looking for "ordinary" cars, not including ambulances, funerary cars, limousines or special cars (but it was good not to specify. The reason is in the penultimate paragraph). If I were to make the topic today, it would be more objective: with my desire to buy a miniature (1/12 or 1/18), I wanted to choose the biggest car of that period, with ltailfins and that had already been reproduced in one of these scales. But at that moment, I thought that asking the way I asked would give me more chances to meet other models, regardless of whether there are replicas or not. I also thought this would over-specify the question. Today I think this information would simplify it, save confusion, and even allow me to specifically filter on "biggest convertibles with tailfins" if none of the common options suit me. However, I send this text only as a thank you and also a satisfaction, without wanting to propose other questions. I know that there is a part of the forum dedicated to scale models and it is not my intention to change the difference of this topic either, but joining a little of what I knew with some information brought here, within the "biggest cars with tailfon ever reproduced in miniature" what else might please me: 1 - 1961 Lincoln Continental Ss 100 X (1:18) 2 - 1958 Lincoln Continental MKIII J.F.Kennedy (1:18) (these two options I would never have known without your help or if I had written the text in another way, excluding limousines. In the end it was all worth it!) 3 - 1961 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible (1:18) 4 - 1959 Eldorado Biarritz (available in both scale) It will now be up to me to choose between options that I like the most, such as knowing if I prefer a larger car on a smaller scale and other details such as color and level of detail. Thank you so much again, I apologize for any ignorance or inaccuracy. I also hope I have clarified some more details and even though it's not a topic with new questions or requests for help, any contribution will still be welcome!
  3. No, Zepher, they understood perfectly. At the end of the text I said that I was really interested in the total length of the car, not just the fins.
  4. Hello hello! As I didn't find something with the precision that I need in general searches, I turn again to this forum that has helped me so much on another occasion. Could anyone tell me which is the longest car from the tailfin heyday era (second half of the 1950s)? I'm in love with the Eldorado Biarritz, but I'm very layman on the subject and it's likely that because it's a convertible model, the absence of the top misleads my vision and makes me have the idea that this is the longest I've ever seen. That's why I decided to ask around here (and when I say I'm a layman, I mean I'm a layman! To the point that, if they exist, I can't see the difference between the 1958 and 1959 model, not to mention my insecurity with English, coz I'm talking from Brazil, and so, I have doubts like "is it right to just write "tailfin car" or should I write "tailfined car"?"). Therefore, I would like to assure you that I am referring to the length of the car as a single piece. Knowing the size of the tailfin just doesn't interest me at all ;D. I used the term only to specify the types of cars I want information about. And if it's not too much to ask, of course I trust the information someone can bring here more than my own impression, but if anyone can come up with a source attesting to the information it would be most welcome. Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello everyone! I have two questions involving the standard Mercedes-Benz 500K ( please ignore the Special Roadster) and I believe you can help me. And I also apologize if I speak ignorance or don't know the specific english term correctly (I am Brazilian and I have difficulty with technical terms). First, I would like to know if anyone would be able to contribute any material that shows the factory paints colorchart of this model. I would be immensely grateful if they could help me, as they are already looking everywhere and could not find it. The second question is really the main one: can anyone tell me with any certainty if there was a factory version with either a 'retractable' or a removable roof? I know there were Cabriolet A, B and C, but these editions don't retain the rear shape of the standard model, the others have the rear lower, ending with a closer angle. And internet photos of Mercedes Benz 500K convertible versions are in the thousands, but the risk of not being historically accurate is huge, and in this reality is no longer interesting to me. If the intent of my curiosity helps them understand my quest: in addition to simply killing my curiosity about this wonderful car I'm in love with, I intend to change some things into a miniature, both to add more personality and to have some things that I like it too (but it doesn't hurt what is correctly historical). The roof, being removable, would not have so many problems if it were not correctly historical, but the colors is already a lot more complicated. So I want to avoid the line of what is historically inaccurate. Finally, one last question, a question of opinion (whose answer should go entirely to the taste of each): if together we come to the conclusion that there was no factory model with retractable or removable roof and yet i want to do, for a different look or a beautiful photo, which of these two options do you think would work best for this model/automobile marque/era? A rigid roof that comes out completely, or a sort of gear that could be put on and off that would allow the roof to be retractable? Thanks in advance for your attention and patience.
