I have an almost identical mascot with the same base and chain, but all the chrome is missing. Don’t know if it was never plated or if chrome was stripped off. The base and chain appear genuine as they have the same markings as yours, but the heron itself may be an old reproduction. Both the base and heron are brass. According to the book “Motoring Mascots of the World”, the earliest herons are brass and were made of zinc starting in late ‘32, so maybe yours is brass as well. Have you decided to keep or sell?
