  1. Maintenance. Changed plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil and oil filter. Also changed the leaky EGR Valve. Now it has a rough idle issue it didn't have before. Runs better under power. Smoother and better acceleration. Just a rough idle. Thought maybe the ECU was just sorting itself out like when I cleaned the IAC valve last year, but after putting a hundred miles on it today it only got a little better. One step forward, two steps back.
  2. Dang, I was hoping it would act up a little before it went out. Dave, thank you for the offer but those hard button lights would drive me nuts. Thank you both for the references. Time to weigh my options.
  3. Crappy puns aside, I'm not sure if my CRT is bad or if its related to the RAP system. The CRT is not lighting up, but I can still use the the touch screen (press where I remember the radio on/off button is and the antenna raises.) So I followed the information on ROJ and checked the RAP fuse, the two 30amp breakers for RAP, and the two RAP relays. Everything checks out. In fact every fuse is good. Nothing else is malfunctioning. I even swapped out the relays with one I knew was good and still nothing on the CRT. So ignition switch right? Well I just put one of those in tonight and still nothing. So I'm finally breaking down and ordering a FSM tomorrow. Till it arrives, can anyone give me a hint on what to check next? I should note that I have had zero issues with the CRT since I bought the car half a year ago.
  4. Thank you all! This gives me a lot to go on. Padgett, if it is a cracked feed pipe will I see a pressure drop when the tank is full or will I have to run it down? Barney, thanks for the reminder on those fuel pumps. I ran the tank low these past few times to recreate this issue, but now that I know I will be keeping her topped off. It's looking more and more like I will have to drop the tank. 😕
  5. Hadn't even thought about a dented tank! Thank you I will check that this afternoon. I will see about getting my hands on a fuel pressure test kit too.
  6. Picked up my 88' Reatta almost a month ago now. Been ironing out the wrinkles pretty easily thanks to all the information here, but I got an issue I can't find a direct reference to. Whenever I get down to less than 1/4 of a tank, the car will stall when accelerating from a stop. It will start up immediately afterward for the first 2 or 3 times, but after that it gets a little harder to start. When looking the car over I noticed the green/gray goo spot on the radiator hose that usually indicates trouble with the ICM or Coil pack. I didn't think this was related, but not sure if these had been replaced or not I went ahead and replaced both just to be safe. In addition I cleaned the MAF sensor, IAC Valve, and EGR Valve. Other than that it looks like the car was recently serviced and it runs beautifully for the first 3/4 of the tank. No other stalls, stutters, or hesitations. Maybe a little hard shift sometimes, but not bad overall. It sounds to me like a fuel issue, but its odd that it doesn't present in any other way. I've had equipment do this before, and it has been a cracked fuel line in the tank, but never with a pump in tank design like this. Thinking it might be the fuel gauge, I kept track of my fill ups. When the gauge reads less than 1/4 tank it takes about 14 gallons to fill. Which makes sense for an 18 gallon tank. So I'm not sure what my next step should be. Should I start checking fuel pressure? Drop the tank? Has anyone come across this before? Any help would be appreciated.
  7. Yes! I just purchased my Reatta earlier this week, but I don't think I would have ever considered a car like this if it wasn't for all the information available here and on ROJ and reatta.net.
