So interesting problem. My electric windows have a very interesting problem. When the car has been running and heats up, the electric windows quit working. I suspect the wiring harness has a short but I have no idea where it would get hot enough to short out. Anyone have any suggestions where to start?

i am currenfly negotiating with a metal fabricator to make me a pair of 1955 Roadmaster gravel guards from Stainless Steel. They are willing to make a permanent mold and provide discounts for volume. Volume meaning at least 10. I am not certain about the cost but i suspect they will be at least 1,200 a pair but definitely less than 1,800. These would be stainless and will last longer than your car. I am using my current pitted ones as a mold. In addition to the gravel guards, you would get a free auto-cad of the guards if you want to make them yourself in the future

So, I picked up a 1955 Buick Roadmaster parts car last week from Wisconsin. If you are looking for something, hit me up. The factory air, rear bumper and passenger rear tail light housing is called for by me. The gravel guards are shot and there is quite a bit of rust. Someone has currently asked for the carburetor but is may still be in play. The floor is rusted through. I am not looking to make money on the car. Just maybe recoup some of my $2,800 investment when I bought it.
Also, I am currently missing twos part of the A/C the site glass and the receiver that sits in front of the condenser. Old Tank and Father Buick have been great resources and have helped me with the other parts and work arounds in the event I cannot find these. But if I can find OEM, I would prefer to use them.

The door escutcheons for my 55 Roadmaster are the same size for both the door and vent window. I have electric windows so am uncertain if they are also the same.

So. Old Buick Parts says that the 1952 - 1953 escutcheons they have wont work on my 1955 Roadmaster and I am in need of 2 to replace. I asked what the difference is and they did not know. Can anyone enlighten me? If the center hole is the same size, I think I could make them work. They sure look the same just the new ones look pretty and maybe flair out slightly more.

The car's original colors were yellow and white. I have already purchased the interior so it will either be stock red or a darker red. I think stock is how I am going to go.

So,
Im at the paint stage of my 1955 Buick Roadmaster. Thanks for everyones help. I was able to get the gravel guards I have restored from a chrome guy in Nashville. They did a great job.
So now I am at an impasse and need the forum;sadvice. I have never seen the color combinations but I had originally planned to go with Carlsbad Black, Cherokee Red, Carlsbad Black combination. My body shop guy is really pushing me to go with a redder red. He says Cherokee Red is really as much orange as it is red. What are your thoughts? My whole plan was to keep the car to an original stock. My interior is already made by SMS. Red and Black in original combinations.
I could go all black exterior or another option, but am really at a loss. I have never seen the Cherokee red so I may be going blindly. Thoughts?

Thanks Buickborn. My son is an engineer and actually I am going to first see if he can Autocad the ones I have based on the curvature of my quarter panels and what we have. We will have to guess a little on the tapering and make sure the edges will be snug. Next, I am meeting with Atlanta WaterJet. Those guys are master carvers that carver nearly anything out of metal using high pressure water. They are clients of mine and are cutting me a deal. If that works, I believe I could easily carve 10 of these and sell them tomorrow.
If that doesnt work, I will definitely hook up with your buds at Sherms Custom Plating. I plated the rest of the Roadmaster at Dallas Plating here in Atlanta. I picked them up today and they look amazing and they did a Concours level job. (See attached) They are saying that the holes will need welding and that a large area has been eaten up by salt and makes them impossible to put a weld on. The only way I suspect these could be used would be multiple dips in the weak areas with a metal such as lead.

I am still in search of some 1955 Buick Roadmaster Stone Guards that are located on the rear quarter panel of the car. I am attaching a picture of mine that are shot. These are the last two parts I need to have a great daily driver. I am a purest and want the car to have everything possible as close to the original. The yellow one is what is looked like when I bought it. The red / black is what my concept of the car will look like after, but a roadmaster instead of a super.
Incidentally, if you have them, I will most likely fly to you and pick them up personally.
I am coming to the end of my restoration project. The Chrome and interior panels / seats are complete. Paint is off completely. All mechanical works. Gary Cecchine of oldbuickparts.com have been great to work with and I highly recommend them. MrEarl from this site has been a tremendous supporter and I am grateful for all of his guidance. I am hopeful the project will be completed by Christmas.

While I am relatively new to Classic Car ownership, I have been a Forensic Accountant since 1991. As a result of over 25 years of experience, I wanted to share my opinion about purchasing car parts on this forum as well as other websites. Buyer Beware. There are many scam artists in many forms that will manipulate you to send them money. Don't fall victim to fraud.
Here are my suggested to keep from getting ripped off:
1. The absolute best way to buy your part is to either go and pick it up yourself or have a friend pick it up in person. Recently, I agreed to spend $400 in airfare and flew across the country to buy $900 work of parts. I did it solely because I did not want to take any risk in the purchase.
2. I have also had people contact me from this site and asked me to go and inspect parts and cars. Another way to protect your assets and use this site to your advantage. Most people on this site and on it for the passion of automobile history and are here to help each other out. Take advantage of it.
3. Have the person post the item for a "Buy it now" price on Ebay. Even if you need to pay a small premium, it is worth the extra fee. Once posted, it is relatively easy for the seller to send you the link and you make the purchase immediately. By doing so, you are protected by Ebay's buyers protection program.
4. Make sure you get the buyers Name, Address, and phone number. Check on other social media sites to make sure they have an account like facebook, or linkedin. If you want to verify the person lives at a certain address, Private Message me and I can do a background check to verify the address and person. Also, look at (but do not completely trust) the reputation on this site.
Warning - Do not rely solely on a phone call, email contact, this site contact and / or pictures. Pictures are easy to cut and paste. Throw away phones at Walmart are cheap and not easy to track. Do not count on authorities to help. Most of the transactions are across state lines. That means your State / Local government won't touch it and the feds do not have the resources to track down your $350.00 car part.

I am working on a restoration and need 3 parts.
1. I need a right grille extension. It is made out of pot metal and mine is broke in two. I found a left one online but not a right one. Part Number is 1166508.
2. I am considering replacing the front grille totally. I would love to fine one is great shape if possible.
3. I am looking for the fan that is under the drivers seat. Working condition.

I believe my original question is in the wrong place. So I am asking in this forum as well.
I recently purchased a 58 Ford Fairlane and want to swap out the wheels and get wire rims. I was able to find 14 x 5.5 Thuderbird wire rims and they appear to be identical to the Fairlane Rims. Can anyone confirm that they are interchangeable? Also, if they are, does anyone know where I can get the Ford center cap? Thank you.

Recently purchased a '58 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner and wanted to update to the chrome wire wheels. I found a place that sells the '58 Thunderbird Wheels online in the right size, 14 X 5 1/2. They appear to be the same save for the center cap. However 1) I do not know if the lug nuts holes are the same distance nor do I know where I can get the Ford Emblem center caps to replace the Thunderbird Emblem. Can anyone provide me some answers? Thank you!

Looking for a transmission for my 1955 Buick Roadmaster. Either rebuilt or can be rebuilt. Haven't opened it up yet but it is locked up and will not drive in reverse.
