  1. Looks pretty damn good as I recall your early days of postings and challenges. Well done!
  2. 🥂🍻 Cheers to the end of 2023, a very productive year for you given the progress you’ve skillfully made. Happy New Year to you and all the others on this forum. 🎉🥳 Lookin’ for more in 2024!
  3. That place in Pawtucket RI is likely Scarborough Faire run by Cecelia. She is a fabulous caretaker of all things MGA! Highly recommend at least one conversation with her when you need parts.
  4. You're making great progress. Thanks again for posting all the details.
  5. Excellent progress. I'm enjoying you getting ever closer to completion.
  6. There is no denying you’re doing excellent work.
  7. It all looks very nice. You’ve got to be pleased with your progress. Curious about what you mean by the brake booster?
  8. Thanks for sharing both the good and the challenging aspects of what is looking like great paint work. Good luck with the final coats.
  9. Looks like a good setup. I love seeing the preventative bug catcher strips hanging near the body.
  10. Should have thought of this when I first saw that chunk of goo in your gun. Are you filtering your mixed paint into the gun’s pot? These are very inexpensive filters and would/should have caught that and other unwanted debris.
  11. Despite your challenges, that’s some nice work.
  12. It’s a bit late for your situation but I painted my dash’s back side white to make it easier to see the various gauges and wire connections once its installed.
  13. For those difficult to sand parts could you use a scotch scratch pad? I saw this done on a Paint Society YouTube video for a complex-shaped front bumper. It looked like it conformed well to the various curves.
  14. Awesome progress. Thanks as always for sharing.
  15. Thank you all for the details. It is very informative and appreciated.
  16. It might peel the ceiling paint off when removed but what about Duct Tape? You’re setup is looking good.
  17. Thanks for the detailed descriptions. I’m hoping you will post a pic or two of the booth setup to see the ventilation and lighting schemes. I wasn’t surprised at the paint cost, I was shocked! Whew!
  18. Looking forward to seeing how you layout your paint booth. You’ve come a long way. All that prep work is about to pay off.
  19. Bummer about your COVID issue. Hoping for your full recovery. Be good to yourself in the meantime.
  20. Hey all, thanks for the advice. I can see why painting over someone else's work would be hazardous. Pursuing the freelance avenue is a good choice if one decides not to paint themselves. Chris (Hursst) describes a good approach for not having a paint booth - make your own. Besides, at that point most of the dirty work is done and the various dirty bits and parts not all spread out from here to there. (Ending my contribution to the noted detour.)
  21. Thanks Hursst. That will help me out as I will likely do the same thing. However, I may defer to a professional for the final color. If you don't mind I'll lurk around and see how things work out for you then decide. I appreciate your detailed postings.
  22. Your project is certainly coming along very well! Question: are you spraying the primer in the great outdoors? If so, do you protect the body from wind borne dust, bugs and stuff?
  23. Hello Hurst, Found a discussion page about using an aluminum impregnated compound instead of leading. Thought it might come in handy for you. The author of this MGA restoration with a twist is doing some interesting work in the power train and body work areas. https://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?2,3898051,4391186#msg-4391186
  24. Love your work and faith that you will enjoy driving your master piece when completed. Glad to hear you had a recent ride. If nothing else it will be inspiration. Something to consider. The rear of the MGA around the bumper area has compound curves. The obvious one is how the body, length-wise, slopes and wraps around past the bumper area. The other curve is not so obvious but it curves slightly from side to side. I’ve seen pictures showing this slight curve relative to a straight edge in another forum on MGExperience but can’t find the exact thread.
  25. Hursst, This suggestion may be in your case many days late a more than a few bucks long but I thought of you as soon as I saw the work he is currently doing. Here is the link and a sample picture. https://www.mgexp.com/forum/mga-forum.2/1957-mga-roadster-restoration-with-an.3898051.4269502/page-47#msg-4269502
