  1. I have a post from the Out Door Power Equipment Magazine If I can find it again Ill post it. One of the things we see is the ethanol dose a job on the gaskets and diaphragms . This brings me to another question My 1930 Chrysler The gas tank was in bad shape, the stuff inside looked like tar I cleaned it out what I could and see the sides were solider on so I took them off and took all the pieces to the sand blaster and I brought it home and brazed up all the holes and re solder the ends in and took it back to the blast shop and had them cote it wit some of the gas tank sealer of the day. when I put the truck up 20 yrs ago I drained the gas tank and now I wonder of that sealer is still good or will it start flaking off and cause problems? I did take the cap off and it still smelled good.
  2. My old vehicles and lawn mowers etc I use Marine gas.they are trying to get the ethanol up to 15% !!! This is no good for older motor's and will cancel the warrentee on new vehicles. Here is a vidio on this./
  3. Ill give Clutch Doctor a call some time next week. Thank You for the recommendation. Our weather in Southern Michigan is the pits this year, not much for crops planted as now.. I have a couple vehicles I want to sell , I might get time and put a add up for them.
  4. Good job on that . I got a 1942 Packard Clipper in a trade and I has the straight 8 and it sat in a barn for 40 years and it only had 14 stuck valves . I have it Running now it needs glass and some body work, but we have drove it down to the corner and back. Im working on my 1930 Chrysler at this time
  5. Mine is a 1930 and some on posted on the thread I Axidently deleted said to use soft shoes on it so as to not hurt the steel drums . The drums are 11 inches and the shoes are 1 1/.2 wide. the lining is just getting to the rivets in places. Ive had other things to do but Im getting parts around. I have to put new points in he distributor and I just like that little distributor with 6 wires going in it. I have a 1939 Chevy and I converted the distributor to electronic .Haven’t put it in yet ,I started driving it before it was done .
  6. I think I may still have a account with McMaster Carr I ill look into it soon.
  7. Im looking for someone in the South West Michigan or northern Indiana that can reline the break shoes for my 1930 Chrysler CJ. If I could find the materials I may try to do it myself.
  8. The first thing you do when you get the split ring apart is to clean the grove and ring so it is clean and smooth!! The ring should go back easy and then stand the when up and put your chain s or straps around the wheel and ring then reach through the centre hole and inflate the tire. If it should happen to blow off it will go away from you
  9. I have talked to Andy Bermbaum and he can have them relined . I want to check with some locals one parts store use to be NAPA and when they parted ways the stor guy kept all the ol;d books and has helped us some things others couldn’t.
  10. Another question the roof has the fabrics in the middle and has been there since it was made into he truck what should I use to freshen it up. It seems solid yet and it has always been covered and in the barn. I want something to freshen it and water prof it. ya never no when you may run into rain. Dose anyone know if there is break shoes available for this.?
  11. Bill On the Crank Hole Cover , we watch Jay Leno and they reproduce a lot of parts with a 3 d printer ,they copy the original part. They could be powder coated chrome or? Just a though. The other night I was looking around on the net and a lot of cars are missing that cover. Id rather have a repo than nothing.
  12. Bill When I bought the truck at a auction sale the back bumpers were off it and I couldn’t get the auctioneer to give them to me with the car so I bought the pile they were in $25.00 35 yrs ago. i have a single spring bumper that Ididnt use I could measure the hole pattern if you are instead .would need re chromed. I do have a running gear out of a 1928 Chrysler 6 but a lot is different that the 1930..a guy was making a hot rod and I bought what he didn’t want. The box on my 1930 wont tilt as much with the bumpers on but Im not hauling any thing anyway. The last license I put on it was 1995. I wont change anything ,I may see if I can still use the same plate when I go to license it again. Some paint needs some touch up but that’s it. To my knowledge it has never been left out side .Ive had it up on blocks so the tires didn’t rot.
  13. Keiser , Thank you for reposting .Im going to try as couple more pic. My front spindle has about 1 inch of thread and another inch of 3/4 , The back spindle has about the 1 inch of thread and no more 3/4. Im a retired machinest with a lathe and a small mill and can maker the parts, It looks like ill have make one for the front and one for the rear. The shoes are just at the rivets,so ill be looking for someone to reline them, I think it was Bill that wanted to see my front bumper.there it is and it has two longs springs and one shorter one in the middle . The bumper is bent a little but it was as a farm truck before I got it .
  14. I got a picture of the breaks . I think I have to make my pictures smaller?
  15. I have the pictures back but lost everything else.
  16. Bill ill try to get you pictures of the bumper may be a day or so.
  17. Something happened and I got locked out and now I lost the whole post!!! I hope they can put it back up .????
  18. My 1930 Chrysler CJ6, Made into a truck for the last depression I have owned it around 30m years and working on getting it on the road again. I got the gas ration book with it. Im re doing the break hoses at this time and when Iget it out side Ill get some better pictures
