We used a knife to clean the wood spokes and some on the metal. A old table knife works good.

Use WD40 or one of the other penitents,. the starting will take any oil off the cylinders and leave it clean and dry and what you want is some lubrication. I LIKE TO PUT A GOOD DOSE OF STABLE IN THE GAS AND RUN THE MOTORS ENOUGH TO GET THE STABLE UP IN THE ENGINE BEFORE LETTING IT SET IT DOSENT HURT TO TAKE THE HAND CRANK OR THE FAN BLADE AND BELT AND TURN THE MOTOR OVER 16 TIMES, By turning the motor 16 times youll will have made all the valves to move.

before you go far take all 4 plugs out and see if you ha cylinders you wont need a gage for this you can have someone turn the motor with the starter and you can put a finger or thumb in the spark plug hole compression on all 4 if you have any or all with no pressure you have some stuck valves.. if you find a stuck valve put a table spoon of oil down the spark plug hole and spin the motor with the starter it may come lose. you can do this on all 4 cylinders. We will talk more if you find stuck valves

How do you use this tool on the front axles it dosent rotate like the back ones? A indicator could be adapted to this set up.

see if the battery has enough amps to turn the motor ? The battery now 4 years old can be weak, may still be rechargeable You should check the water in the battery. and clean the cables and the battery posts.

My 39 was modified before I got it. It had a 3 speed and the drive shaft was closed a ways back and then it was open to 1954 chevy rear end. I found a 1937 GMC 1 1/2 TON And the drive shaft was open all the way , I shortened it and put the old 4 speed in it and shortened the shaft to fit and that is what it is running now . I do have a 4 speed out of a 1953 GMC 3/4 TON That is a sinkro but don’t know what all I will need to fit that in. I still have the 3 speed and all, i seldom get rid of anything I have the 37 11/2 but it is rough and parts missing the motor is still there and the rear end.

Nice truck. The 46 I have I Bought it 35 yrs ago for a parts truck and it was stuck when I bought it. I do have the 4 speed out of a 1953 GMC ,dont know if it will fit?

I HAVE A 1946 Chevy 3/4 pu with a 4 speed tranny in it WILL THIS TRANY BE A SYNCHRONISED TRANNY OR how can I tell for sure ? Tranny is still in the truck and the motor is stuck. If the trany is a SYNCHRONISED I would get it out and put it my 1939 Chevy pu. With old age and heart troubles I think I would like the SYNCHRONISED tranny better and my grandson has no idea how to double clutch!

I have one of Those Tunger battery chargers and it has to be screwed into a light socket.

The better sealer’s have a etcher or primer you use first then put the sealer in. If I have holes I solder therm up first. you have to the area where you are going to patch clean .

Be careful some of those distributors are pot metal and with its age they break easy I have herd of the V.W. air cooled engine can be adapted to work .

The magnet charger will work on a lot of tractor and the old hit and miss engines. magneto That one is a nice one..

The first jack is most likely a wagon or a buggy jack . I got oner similar Ill try to get a picture of it. In have a Yellow cab floor jack that uses a chain. I m trying to get it all freed up
