  1. OK, I think I can answer most of your questions: The show posted an ad in a local paper. I emailed them about my Dad's collection and they were interested. Asked me to send a lot pf pics. They then sent our a producer to gather more pics. We were then chosen for the show. The guys were very nice as was the entire crew. It was a very long day of shooting. All in all, they were fair, genuinely interested in our family's history and story and respectful of the items we sold. The show did not do it justice in that they bought a lot more but didn't get through the editing process. As for the literature collection, my siblings and I have decided that sometime next year (we hope), to have a HUGE estate sale and invite serious collectors out for the weekend to go through the collection and buy what they want. This way, no one person gets to cherry pick the best stuff. I plan on making an announcement on here a few months in advance so all collectors can make arrangements to visit Southern California for this event. At this time, it may only be for the literature collection and not the hard stuff (like signs, memorabilia, etc.) but that may change as well.
  2. They pretty much paid what we asked. There was a bit of haggling back and forth and sometimes their prices were a bit low, but overall, it was a pretty good experience. They did have my brother re-shoot some stuff because of camera angles or the lighting was off, but they were pretty free about what he could say.
  3. Hello All-- I know I've chatted with some of you about my 1939 Buick Limo and coupe and some great signs my Dad collected. Back in March, the show American Pickers came out to my family estate and picked some items. Now these items and a lot of Buick memorabilia will be on the show. It airs this coming Monday, August 5 @ 9/8c pm on The History Channel. Below is a sneak peak of our episode.

  5. yes, it does have a title and comes with the personalized CA license plate Buick 39. My Dad bought it from some other gentleman in California in the late 60s...beyond that, I'm not sure of it's history. I was brought home in the hospital in this car and the family would take trips up to Lt. Lassen and all over CA on Buick club trips.
  6. I'll be home next weekend and will try to get better pics of the engine and the backseat and rear windows. Maybe I can grab a VIN. Anywhere else I should look on the car that would be helpful in ID'ng what model coupe it is?
  7. This is all very useful information and I am very much appreciative for all of it. The family is looking to sell so, hit me up with an offer if you're interested. I will be home next weekend and should be able to provide more info on what parts are there, better condition of the motor, etc. --SK
  8. Sadly, I think it might be either repro or homemade...
  9. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Anyone ever have any luck submitting their project car to a TV show that rebuilds them? Do you think they'd have any interest in trying to restore a 39 Buick coupe? --SK
  10. Thank you for all of this info, very much appreciated. I'll see if I can't give the old gal a good bath and maybe let her see the light of day. She is for sale, so if anyone is itching for a project..... Also, I have a garage full of NOS Buick parts, memorabilia, owners manuals, Buick car literature, Buick paper ephemera, etc..... I'll try and get pictures of those and post on another thread. --SK
  11. 1939 Buick 8 Limo Model 90L VIN: 93653241 Looking to sell, serious inquiries only. Is currently stored in a garage in Southern California. Interior is in great shape. Also interested in the history of this vehicle. What would it be worth in mint condition? Current condition worth? is it rare, desirable? Thanks in advance for any info. --SK

  15. Hello-- I'm trying to some research on this Buick 8 neon sign I found in my Dad's collection. I'm not sure if it's a repro or an original. I cannot find any images online that look like it. Can anyone give me some more information on it, please? Is it worth anything? is it rare? Thank you in advance for your help. --SK
