This is on a 31 PA coupe.  someone had changed the carburetor over to the carter BB1 .   I made parts to fit the 31 air cleaner too it.

Also did the later add on up pipe to raise vent cap out of the dirt.    The fuel pump heat shield made from pattern that was sent to me (thanks).  I had to also modified this to clear the BB1 carburetor.  Did the steel fuel and rubber line for fuel pump.

That air silencer - air filter looks good.....I'd be interested in knowing how they adapted the BB1 carb to what looks like a PA intake manifold... I suspect they drilled into the carb base? has anyone else done this?.......The heat shield pattern, is that something you would pass along and or share?

  2. Well, I got the magnifier glass out and was able to make out a makers name along the back edge. "Parisian Novelty Company, Chicago.", I did a search and they started in 1898 and closed in 2008, I also read (not sure how accurate this is) that this Chrysler logo was used between 1925 and 1930?...

My only ponder remains, were they handed out at a new car show to potential customers or at the dealership for buying customers or maybe for the salesman?

    Any Thoughts?... TIA

My records are 10 years old, but I used Steele Rubber number 60-0106-32 for the rubber bushings on my 1932 PB sport roadster.

Thanks 34Carrott, Interesting, Did you have to resize the OD and did all of yours have the steel inserts?...only three of mine had the steel inserts...

When one search's the Steele website by year and model, no link bushings come up... also when I called Steele a year or so back to place an order for other stuff, I asked about a shock link bushing and was told that they didn't carry such an item.... now, when I search by part number it does come up but the only Plymouth it list to fit is the 30U which is odd since the United Motors list all the same from 29-32...

In hindsight I'm glad I took the route I did, the kit I bought was $35. Cdn, the singles from Steele Rubber appear to be $8.95 US each (X8) plus shipping, with the exchange rate at the time, it was a savings for me of close to $65. Cdn.... enough for milk, couple loaves of bread and a piece of fish now-a-days....

  4. This pin was in a auction box lot, I'm assuming that it is a hat or a lapel pin as it does have a pin on the back, just wondering if anyone would know if it was a give-away at a new car show of the time or was it a give away at the dealership... or something else altogether... any thoughts on approximate date?

    TIA

  6. After about 25 years on the road I retired six years ago from the 5AM till 9PM work force, I started driving the big ones in 1979 and my first unit was a B model Mack with two sticks, as mentioned above, if you use all the gears you are just showing off (unless you are moving a 80 thousand pay load) but it also take a bit of experience to be able to skip gears smoothly. As my career was winding down I asked for a unit with three peddles as I didn't feel comfortable with the auto trans on black ice and in the snow. Oh, it was a very hard living on the family life but I truly enjoyed seeing the country side, I always considered myself as a professional tourist..  Never had a preventable incident...

Here's a picture of one of my earlier R model Mack units and a map of most of the roads I covered, yellow highlight is with the truck and green was with my personal vehicle.

LOL... sometimes one just doesn't see the forest for the trees... Thanks for straightening us out...

  8. The D3DA 18842 AA are the engineering numbers, actual parts book number would have been D3DZ 18842 A.... fitting as mentioned above a 1973 Maverick and most likely the 74 as there was very little difference dash wise. Most likely it'll fit the Mercury Comet as well. It may have been cut out to accommodate the newly introduced AM/FM 8 track player??

  10. Here's page three from the 1932 Plymouth PB sales brochure indicating that the PB is capable of doing 70MPH+ and almost 50MPH in second gear with factory gearing. One would think that the factory engineers would've tested the engine to see just how long and well it held together at the RPMs required to achieve this speed and would not have advised to promote such speeds (RPMs) if it didn't stay together?... I certainly wouldn't want to drive one at 70MPH but it would be nice to know the max RPMs that Walter was promoting.

Can anyone figure out what RPM the PB engine would be turning at 70MPH with factory 18" wheels and the stock driveline?... math isn't my thing...

    Hope this helps,
