  1. I have been known to take a clutch head bit with my other tools to the junkyard and grab some of screws just so I would have some on hand. Just in case! Along with other miscellaneous odds and ends that aren’t easily obtainable.

  2. Any spark when connecting a battery cable is a concern. That’s why we always disconnect the negative cable.  While uncommon a battery explosion is a real danger. Perhaps subsequent connections are not showing a visible spark, but a lesser transfer of current is still a possibility. Certainly it needs to be corrected.

  3. JMBT, I should have mentioned this earlier in your post, if you haven’t already opened the access panels on the doors you probably should do so and at least inspect, if not remove the sound deadener that is probably now lay in the bottom of the doors instead of attached to the exterior. I also recommend using rattle can to hose down the inside of the doors afterwards. And don’t neglect inspections of the quarter panels from the trunk, they put deadener in there , too, including above the wheel well. The old deadener acts like a sponge and holds moisture. I need quarter panel repair and another door for the ‘52 Special I have due to the aforementioned deadener.

  4. Thanks for the offer Flackmaster, but this car is a real beater project. Driver quality is all I need. And they could be rough enough that they would only be good for a paint job.

  5. I have a basket case 1940 junior series  and the bezels for the headlights are missing. What else will work? Chevrolet? The car is not a candidate for restoration, just a possible driver, eventually. Years , makes?

  6. It’s good to see you are making progress on your car. I had hoped to catch news of your progress. I don’t drop in at the Pontiac site since I don’t own one at the moment. Hopefully I will get another chance at a ‘55. This is sitting in a local junkyard that I told you about when you visited. I don’t know what condition any parts are, or exact year, but I could check the next time I go.

  7. Here in Knoxville, TN we are fortunate to have Smitty at World Clutch. He does many different clutches and relines many different brake shoes. I have even walked into his shop and walk back out with a relined  clutch while I engaged in conversation with him. That’s something that you don’t run across much anymore. A good old school man in a good old school shop!

hey I am looking for the 1956 Nash Ambassador super that i saw in one of your post do you still have it and if so what are you asking  for it when I was a kid we had one and I loved it and I always wanted one  if you do not mind let me know please

Neither of us own the junkyard. You should call the number listed above. If it’s the car I am thinking about, the taillight section has been cut out of the quarter panels.

What about a 1953 72r roadmaster 4 door w/ vent glass. Looking for what rear lass is interchangeable. Thanks!

Knowing what models will interchange and also where you are located can be a big step in finding parts . I don’t recall if this is a Super or a Roadmaster, but it appears to have the E-Z-Eye glass. I’m guessing that the rear glass is still intact.
