Thanks B Jake Moran. I did spk with Gene. Will see the Buick Saturday. You appear to be correct about who Gene is. He also was kind enough to explain the George Barris connection. Very helpful. -

Gene-Thank you posting this. I sent you a PM. -
Looked like a beautiful day, your families cars look great! Seeing the 72 Monte brings back memories. I'm wondering if Chevy's also had "Burnished Bronze" in 72 like Riv's?

I would suggest to go to- Riviera Owners website: https://www.rivowners.org/ Then go to the link for the 1983 Pace Cars: http://www.buickrivieraconvertible.com/pacecar.php You may find what you seek there, lots of good information.

1969 Buick Le Sabre Convertible - $26,550

I need to repair ( EXPENSIVE) or replace my drivers side interior door panel on my 72. After looking without luck for a replacement, I saw a photo in Collectible Auto story from 07/2007 a article about the 71-78 Tornado’s. The photo of the 1971 door panel looks exactly like the Boattail’s. Anyone tried or know, would Tornado interior door panel work as a replacement? Thanks much

Thanks Guys for your response. I apologize for my late response, been tied up with a ton of work stuff, I did locate 4 rims and when I get a chance I will clean them up and see what I got. I still may end up reaching out to you. Thanks again! PS: I bought the first 3 rims from the first poster (George) who is very quick to send them to me. He owns a old junk yard out in Montana and runs it with his wife! -
Never seen one, but like it, the body reminds me a bit of a second gen Riviera or Tornado. But to respond to the question, I think the answer is, it's all about how do you plan to use the vehicle? For me, it would be driver and would show it local events etc, which would mean I would give it a nice paint job (assuming everything else is right).

Hi, looking for 4 Rally Rims. I understand the 1971 to 78 Rally Rims will work. The specs are: 15x6”, 5x5 bolt pattern, Rim code: 895, BC code: WK, bead type: JJ, backspace: 3 7/8” , wheel hub dia. 3”, center cap hole 2”. it’s for my 72 Boattail. Thanks much!

Thanks EmTee, what's kind of a mystery about the car is that it came with what appears to have been a Buick Hood Ornament which was broken off. After contacting Ray Knott and reading what I could on the ROA website, it appears to not have been a factory option for Boattails. I will attach a photo and you can see it up close. Not sure what to do about it.

So long time listener, first time caller....I just bought my new project (ebay "special"). I love all Riv's period. The original question though was "What inspired you to buy a Riviera?" For me I decided about 5 years ago I wanted to buy another Boattail. I bought my first one in 1980 after I turned 18 with some money I received from my dad's life insurance from his death when I was 3. I had my 1973 Boattail about 6 weeks before the head gasket went. I owned it long enough to remember how much I loved that ride, that power, that elegance...wow... I always though of it as the ultimate luxury sports car. So now, I bought a 72 and it needs work, but not enough to be a issue. Really excited to finally get this party started!

Well, as a 27 Buick lover, and a Buick guy, that’s their loss, not ours. My grandfather owned exactly same vehicle and it is on my bucket list!
