  1. Guest Brucekoukalaka: I know it has been a few years since you originally posted photos of your Oakville Ontario built Ranger 4-dr hardtop. Do you still have this car? It appears to be a color combination that was not available on Ranger (or Pacers) assembled in the USA. Just curious
  2. The 1960 Edsel Ranger sedan was the last of the breed. Just, 2,846 Edsels for 1960 came off the assembly line at Ford's Louisville, KY facility. 1,288 of those were 4-dr sedan, but 162 of those had the deluxe interior and were designated as Model 58B. Would be interesting to see that the data plate of this car reads!
  3. Sorry this reply is a couple of years late. Here is a complete breakdown of Bill A's 1957 Lincoln's data plate. Starting with the serial number 57WA21507L: 57=1957 model year; WA=Wayne, MI assembly plant; 21507=16,507th 1957 Lincoln scheduled for production at the Wayne plant; L=Lincoln The second line Body Specif. (Model) BAJ=Engineering code for 1957 Lincoln; 60=2-dr hardtop, B=Premiere Series; (Color) 136=Two-tone scheme, Starmist White with Oxford Gray; (Trim) 734=White leather Bolsters with Black leather accents and trim; (Date) A5=January 5, 1957 as the day your car was scheduled for production, (Rotation) 398=398th car is a production cycle. For 1957, all Lincoln production was conducted at the Wayne, Michigan assembly plant which also produced Mercury automobiles that year. A total of 15,185 Premiere 2-dr hardtops were produced for the 1957 Lincoln. A total of 41,123 1957 Lincolns were produced. . The highest serial number issued for 1957 was 57WA46232L
  4. I have been a contributor to OCW since 1983. In speaking with Angelo, he said that for the time being Old Cars Weekly will continue to publish as the parent company attempts to reorganize. Old Cars Weekly is a very viable publication and while the immediate future isn't defined, he and I both feel that it will be around for many years. In 2021, OCW will celebrate its 50th anniversary. If you have ever wanted to subscribe and have something on real paper to read that covers your hobby, I ask you to consider doing it now. Some great writers from people who really love vintage tin!
  5. Interesting photos. From the paperwork you posted, I caught the VIN of A9UC744580. This is a 1959 Ranger 2-dr sedan, one of 7,778 produced that year. It is fitted with the 223 cid "Econ-O-Six" inline 6-cylinder engine and has the two-speed Mile-O-Matic, identical to the new for 1959 Ford 2-speed Ford-O-Matic. It appears that it was single-tone Jadeglint Green and had the two-tone green vinyl with Green Signet cloth inserts. What is interesting is that this was very close to the end of the 1959 Edsel's production run. I maintain a Registry for all Edsels and others with similar unit sequence numbers have a date of 25H or August 25, 1959, a Tuesday, and build-out for the 1959 model year was the following day, Wednesday, August 26th! If you get a chance to revisit this Edsel a photo of the data plate might reveal a couple more secrets about this car. Thanks for posting this.
