  1. Does anyone still make a drier with a recessed sight glass to accommodate the OEM protective rubber plug?
  2. Who performed the carb rebuild?
  3. At the front, lower section of front fender; sorry didn't see your question mark.
  4. What's the name of the attached sheetmetal part that's spot welded to the lower fender behind the bumper? Late 40s, but I couldn't find it in the parts catalog. Do these interchange with other years / models? Thanks much.
  5. Does anyone produce an adapter to allow modern, standard timing lights to work better with thinner s-plug wires for the inductance clip? My modern timing light's clip seems too large and frequently fails to detect the spark; other t-lights seem to have the same clip style. Powering it from a standalone 12V as the car is 6V. Alternately are there t-lights designed specifically for thin s-plug wires?
  6. Car has always had this issue in limited ownership. Experienced an actual bad condenser and that was different: Random missing at all speeds and throttle loads, amplified when cold because of weak spark. I'm now leaning more towards the points issue or weak fuel pressure.
  7. Thanks ... new coil and same behavior as the old one. It has one of those gauze (clean with kerosene) air filters that I can't figure out how to open. But I tried it with the air snorkel disconnected and same symptom.
  8. Carter carb, and true the points were not changed; thanks.
  9. My late 40s 248ci Eight stumbles and "misses" at wide throttle but performs and accelerates adequately after backing-off some. Does it in all 3 manual gears. New wires, plugs, condenser, and coil with timing set to 4 BTDC at low idle. Vac adv holds vacuum and moves the plate. I'm thinking perhaps sticking dist. weights or insufficient fuel pressure to match the WOT air stream. Curious as to others' thoughts.
  10. Buttons push fine, thanks, but don't have the resistance per se of more modern pushbutton memory radios of the 60s-70s.
  11. Agreed, but unfortunately this isn't working for any button.
  12. For a late 40s Sonomatic, the radio powers up and can manually tune stations fine, but none of the preset buttons have any tuning effect. Is this something that can be adjusted / troubleshooted with the radio still mounted?
  13. Anyone know the steering wheel to column nut size & pitch; applies to '37-'51 cars (grp 6.515 p/n 257720). Need to find a die or tap; thanks.
  14. Seeking 2 front door hinge cover plates for 46-48 models; thanks. These are L-shaped plates secured with 2 screws.
  15. I don't believe that oil filters were standard. Was the oil dipstick painted or left bare?
  16. For 40s Buicks can the windshield washer hose to nozzle connection be accessed by removing the inside windshield surround (and defroster outlet), or must one do this via speedometer, etc., removal?
  17. Seeking a Buick "Fact Book" for 1946 or 47; prefer condition & completeness over the actual year.
  18. Seeking the white plastic cap that fits over the (+) terminal on a horn junction relay found on early-mid 60s Rivs (perhaps other models). The relays can be sourced new but lack the protective cap. Thanks much.
  19. Seeking the 3 metal engine wiring brackets for a (typically) 7.0L Nailhead; applicable to the 1st-gen Riviera with this motor. Two are on the passenger-side bank and one is on the driver's cyl bank. Pass-side photos below. These are different from the s-plug wire brackets that are available new. Cheers.
  20. Trying to identify these types of fasteners used across various parts of my 47 Buick, and posting here only because of similarity to the Prewars. These fasteners appear to be a cross between a sheetmetal and lag screw, but understandably there's no match at the hardware chains or McMaster. Their sizes are uncommon too; #12 for the smaller and #16 for the larger. Do any vendors carry these?
  21. Those appear to be the ones. I had that vendor in my favorites list but didn't think to look because no one else had them. Hopefully this will help someone else in the search. Thank you much.
  22. Attempting to identify a replacement source and technical name for these firewall pad retainers used on late 40s Buicks, Cadillacs, and perhaps other brands. They're metal with a coin slot. Can't tell whether the shank is threaded or serrated because I've yet to successfully remove one. New ones are all plastic without the coin slot. Thanks for any tips.
  23. Does anyone know of a source for this kickboard or insulator pad retainer, observed in the forward footwell area of certain models? Nickel-sized head that, I believe, has serrations instead of screws threads on its narrow shank.
  24. Looking for a door check link with flared protrusions for late 40s front door. Rubber end stop not needed; thanks.
