  1. I have a 31 DeVaux 4 door sedan that we have owned since 1988. Bought it from a rancher in Wyoming that purchased it new in 1936 in Belle Fourche, SD. Story is that it sat on the dealership lot in Belle until 1936 because the company went out of business and nobody wanted a car that there wasn't support for. The owner that I purchased the car from said the salesman came out to the ranch one day trying to sell the car. Ted, the owner, mentioned his dad jokingly told the salesman if the car could clime the hill in high gear out of the ranch house area, he would buy the car. Well it did and his dad bought the car. The kids then drove the car back and forth to school and eventually it sat at the airport in Belle Fourche for transportation around town when the family flew to town. Town was about 45 to 50 miles over some pretty rough roads, but only about a 20 min flight. Then in later years it went back to the ranch and just sat near the airplane hanger when I found it in the mid 80's. We did a complete restoration in 88 and take it to car shows where the "experts" are always amazed buy the car the "never heard of" Nice car but the achilles heal is the rear axle ratio, at 35 its starting the struggle.
  2. Stutzman, Melvin 33650 Co Rd 12 Baltic, OH 43804 330-897-1391 ext 1 Amish wheelwright I've had them rebuild about a dozen wheels for me over the years. EXCELLENT workmanship, fast turn around and a very fair price. You have to call them and leave a message and they will call you back. Located about 50 miles NE of Columbus, Oh.
  3. Have the wheel rebuilt. You are only putting a bandaid on a problem wheel. If it collapses while you are traveling on the highway, it will be disasterous and could cost your life. I don't know where you are located but there are several wheel rebuilders in the country that will do a good job.
  4. brake wheel cylinders and master
  5. Actually it is a Remy style coil from the mid teens thru the mid to late 20s depending on the auto manufacturer. There were several different mounting adapter plates available and they mounted in the engine compartment, usually on or near the generator. They were used by several car manufacturers like Chevy, Studebaker, Apperson, Auburn, Chalmers and a bunch of other companies. Contact was made through one of the terminals on top of the coil and the other contact went to the distributor. The round piece on top was the resistor which limited the amount of current to the points so they wouldn't burn.
