  1. I agree that BJ isn’t really the place for a reatta or any of the big TV auctions for that matter. I stopped watching them because it’s more or less and endless stream of mustangs, corvettes, and muscles cars. It’s kinda boring for me because although I appreciate them that not all I want to see. This car also sold on a Wednesday morning so that could be a factor too. If this followed say a c4 corvette on Friday or Saturday it may have brought more. Guess we have to wait for the next one to pop up.

I think a way way to make the reatta go up in value is to raise awareness of them. I have been the only reatta at all but one show I’ve been to. One of my friends from home has one too he’ll be bringing out this summer. We have reverse color combos so that should draw some attention. I try to tell the story of the reatta to anyone who asks about it and try to educate them in at least what I know.

When I was first looking for a reatta two years ago I made a spreadsheet of all the ones I could find for sale on the East coast. There were cases like this where it didn’t make sense why a car was priced how it was.  But there have been some higher value ones for sale. Last year the last VIN 91 vert was for sale for 40k with ~350 miles on it. I know they declined drunk me’s 20k offer. But it sold. So my guess is somewhere closer to what they were asking.

I bought mine mine to enjoy and if it happens to go up in value that would be awesome. As a 91 with low miles and 1of1 color combo. I think there may be a chance of that lol. But who knows maybe a few years from now they’ll go up in value. Sorry for the essay

  2. There’s a good write up on this exact topic on this forum somewhere. I don’t have the link readily available. But short answer is not exactly. The pre series one in the 89 isn’t an exact plug and play with the supercharger from the series one. You could swap that whole engine in and I believe it’s some computer stuff and your good to go. I don’t know about the rest of the stuff but someone else will probably chime in on that.

  3. I find FB is okay. One thing it does that I hate is sometimes it doesn’t show exactly what your looking for. You may search one thing and something else comes up and when searching that thing a different one of the first comes up. Last summer a beautiful 96 Park Avenue showed up when I was looking up roadmasters. But not park aves. And naturally some one else had bought it by then

  4. I can say I’m in agreement with most of what y’all have said. I did a paper for one of my capstone business classes in college on brand image and I chose Buick. This was in early 2016, so a year or so after the avenir concept came out. That was my whole focus of look they’re trying to be new and exciting but that never happened. It’s just some rebranded opel or Chevy.

I do like the regal tourX, For what it is. I don’t think I’d buy one new unless they make it closer in size to the 96 roadmaster. But that won’t happen.

I do agree the GM that made the mistake of getting rid of cars. The foreign brands have done a very good job of taking over that market. If GM made some small things to compete with stuff like the VW GTIs and Subaru WRXs they’d get a lot of young buyers. All they’d need to do would be make a gs or t type regal two door with a manual tranny in it.

But to the point of no more names on cars. I think it’s dumb all the over regulation has made cars all look the same anyway, only way to tell them apart is by finding the name in it.

  5. THIS AD HAS EXPIRED

This one is interesting original a 1of 2 car. The other according to the data base was crushed in 03. So guess it’s a 1 of 1 now. Looks fair to me fading on the wheel and rips In The driver seat. If I wasn’t at sea I’d definitely go look at it myself. https://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/d/saddle-brook-1991-buick-reatta/6976704726.html

  6. I had it happen once on my 91 it was a cold wet day hasn’t happened since. If it happens more often that’s bad. But if it a one time deal you should be fine. Or rip it apart and clean it like said above. It’s one of those things that does go in the 90-91s so doesn’t hurt to clean it to prevent it.

  7. The VATs is a lock out of the fuel pump and starter. If the VATs fails while driving your car will still run until you shut it off. If trying to start the car cold the security light is flashing and you get a no start the easiest thing to do is try the other key. Or clean the resistor like said above. In my opinion it’s probably not a VATs issue.

  8. My 91 has a pen, flashlight, pressure gauge, plastic key, dealers business cards, road map and atlas, card to get the engraved plate, note pad, and the sign off sheet. I believe this is correct for everything that should be in there. All the other paperwork I have like warranty info was in a separate bag.
