Concur. This forum never ceases to amaze me. I read somewhere that cams are essentially the mechanical brains of an engine. They tell the distributor which cylinder to fire, which valves to open, to close, when, and for how long. The amount of knowledge of the 'brain surgeons' in this thread is indeed pretty impressive. Jim, good day. Per our PM, thanks again. For the masses, the file transfer worked seamlessly, sent the funds via PayPal, within a couple hours (or less) I received the link to the File Transfer site. The download is relatively large (665MB) so if you are still using a 14.4 dial-up modem it could take some time. We have fibre optic internet so the download was probably an excruciating minute or less. The files downloaded in their original folder and structure. Easy peezy. I'll probably keep a copy on a USB stick but also to take it to the office and print it for my "old school" files. Great reference info to have, thanks again... Later,

Good day, Not sure if this thread has been helpful or not, and I have no suggestions either way with respect to your quest to find someone to inspect the car nor any comment related to the suggestions already made in this thread. A quick question; I often speed read some of these threads, but I noticed you posted a build sheet and cowl tag for a '65 elsewhere in the forum. Is this/that car one you are looking to purchase? If so, in lieu of you finding anybody to inspect it up close and personal, I would suggest asking the seller for as many pictures of the car as possible. Post them to this forum. It's amazing the discerning eyes that are part of this group and the level of detail info and honest critique that can be provided from a handful of decent pictures. Anyway, if you are purchasing, good luck, but be careful whom you can trust...

Interestingly enough, this happened once years ago in my '61 Pontiac - 6 cylinder. Idling at a set of lights heard a massive bang, and it started idling REALLY rough. Shut it down, opened the hood, couldn't find the issue until I noticed the broken fan blade embedded in the frame rail. It probably woulda came through the roof if it had released at that point. Started it up and once I got going it actually ran fine, until of course I had to idle again. Didn't have any temp issues, just tried my best to avoid idling as I made my way home. The bang scared the bejeezus outta me...

My son recently took ownership of his grandfathers "vintage" 1996 Honda Accord, with less the 70K miles it's in great shape. He works in downtown Vancouver and after a shift at work he was having major problems starting his car . Towed it to a shop only to find a dead rat entwined in the belts after lunching on some electrical cables. What a mess, At least the 'baby pterodactyl' in the above appeared to die a peaceful death... Sorry for the slightly OT post, good luck in the restoring the ol' 'rat rod...😊

Sorry, I have no specific advice related to shipping in the US, but before we cut our cable TV a few years back, I recall a cable reality show called Shipping Wars that was focused on Uship's "top" half dozen or so drivers hauling random stuff across the country after bidding against each other to get the load. Albeit a "made for TV" reality show, I get it, but if they were the top UShip haulers, good grief. My advice, hire a real professional, one often gets what they pay for... Good luck...

For what it’s worth, to finish the main components, the manifolds are in group 3.601 and the resonators are in group 3.702... same same...

Ed, the page I posted was only group 3.609, the tailpipes are in group 3.705., mufflers in group 3.701 and they list the same numbers as the original image for both GS and non.

Ed, maybe I’m missing something but 1372850 and 1372851 are pipes 9 and 10 on the diagram, the front pipes, while pipes 6 and 12 are over the axles and are the last two listed in group 3.609 - 1353876 and 1353877, and they’re not specifically listed as Gran Sport...

In the Canadian edition I have, the illustration is different, but only one part number for each side is listed for the over axle (in group 3609), and all other part numbers I’m the other groups appear to match the illustration posted above. (aka XframeFX) it was a pleasure finally meeting you and although I didn't have my Riv out, it was also great to finally see another first gen' Riv in the wild. Rare sighting 'round these parts. Good day. Based in Edmonton with a '64 that I've owned since 1980. Original Edmonton car sold at Jenner Motors. Drove it as a daily summer driver for a number of years, then it was stored inside for 10-12 years until "The Boy" turned 16 and we got 'er fired up and rolling again. For all intent and purpose it's an original decent 20-footer, not without it's issues mind you, but basically still pretty sound. There are few other Riv's around town, but few and far between. Over the years at one of the largest car shows in Western Canada (Rock'n August), I've only ever seen one other first gen' - a Burgundy '63. Although I have been out on the links a couple times already this year, the Riv has yet to see the light of day. My insurance was always a six month policy that I would put PL/PD on it on May 23, which by then most of the street cleaning of the sand is done and potholes are starting to be filled in. That's always been my get 'er out date +/-. Looking forward to getting it out soon... Later,

Russ, good day. Cool, we'll need to hook up a local "3-4-5" Riv' meet this summer somewhere. Hopefully the weekend meets at the A&W on 149 st & 111 ave return this year. The one I attended last summer had a lot cars turn out. I just replied to John (local owner of '63) on a few other topics and mentioned that back in the eighties, there was a friend of some friends in/around Ardrossan that had a red '65. I remember being jealous of his tinted glass and I recall he liked my Wedgewood blue. I'll have to ask a few friends if they remember the guy's name.
