House With Nearly 300 Classic Cars for $400K - Canaan, NH
drhach replied to Twisted Shifter's topic in General Discussion
Are there a lot of rich junkyard owners out there? -
Those tumblers are readily available on Ebay and you can rekey the lock to your key's code. It isn't hard at all, I did it :).

Your shop manual should have a reamer specification.

Fitzee's a genius. The only problem is that he makes it look easy.

1942 Special Convertible Project $10,000
drhach replied to B Jake Moran's topic in Buick - Buy/Sell - Not Mine
I wonder if you could even find convertible specific parts for that car. Maybe Chevy parts cross over? -
All the cool kids have tach's. Everyone knows that.

Have you considered doing it yourself? There's quite a bit of good documentation available and Fatsco sells a rebuild kit. You may be pleasantly surprised with your results. Regards, Dan

There's a ton of information on this forum as well. Yellow Bullet Forums They are mostly drag racing guys, but lots of stuff regarding problem solving and they build their trannies for toughness.

Where did you get that flexible fuel line? I wouldn't mind replacing the one on my Special.

I started using mayo for my fries when I gave up sugar (ketchup is loaded with sugar). It's actually pretty good. I've come to prefer it.

Great work as always Roger! -
I've always loved that Chevy orange. The engine looks great.

That is what they were made for. Good on you for having fun with your car.

I fully agree that bidding frenzies happen. To a much lesser extent, I've been in some myself. I'm sure the car sold, and the seller is happy with what he got for it. I'm also sure that there's more to the story. I can't prove it, it's just my opinion and everyone knows what opinions are worth. I just think a healthy dose of skepticism is probably appropriate in this case.

Seems like a bogus sale to me. More and more I think these auctions are a sham.

You should clone yourself too, so you have someone to help you drive; assuming you don't already have a wife for that.

This is what I mounted in the B-Pillar It needs to go behind the sheet-metal. So, after drilling the three holes for the plate, I fished a string through the B-pillar and pulled the mount up from the bottom. I installed the center bolt and tightened it to pull the mount against the sheet-metal and then I riveted the mount to the sheet-metal using the two smaller holes. This shoulder screw allows the bracket to swivel and move freely. Hopefully my description makes sense.

The website I referenced has guidelines for how to measure your length. The rear floor actually has dimples in place for seatbelt anchors. A couple of phone calls to the company sorted out the rest. It's been a few years. But I've been very happy with the outcome. For the upper rears, I used a retractor that is designed to mount horizontally. So, it's attached to the package shelf rather than the base in the trunk. It's a very tidy installation. I tried to make it look as factory as possible. I'm not affiliated with them in any way (Seatbelt planet). But they did right by me and were very helpful with navigating the job. I'm sure there are other companies as well. This was just the one I found.

Whoever you buy from should be able to provide come guidance on lengths.

1956 Roadmaster 2 Door Hardtop $5500 Minnesota
drhach replied to B Jake Moran's topic in Buick - Buy/Sell - Not Mine
Going by the fact that one of the pictures is of the car on trailer. The seller probably paid $2,500 for it and he's trying to flip it for double. Just putting the missing parts on it would be a lot of time and effort, let alone sorting out why it was disassembled in the first place. -
I used these guys: Aftermarket & Replacement Seat Belts | SeatbeltPlanet.com™ I installed three-point restraints in the front and rear of my 62.

You may want to consider buying a parts car. In the long run, it may be faster and cheaper than tracking that stuff down.

Here’s a fun one — Who bought a car for under $ 100 ???
drhach replied to mobileparts's topic in General Discussion
I bought a 1970 Gremlin X with a 304 V-8 for $35 and a pack of Camel cigarettes. He wanted $100 but I only had $35 on me, and he was out of smokes :). For all the grief that car caused me, I think I overpaid. -
I thought her name was Linda, not "Jack".
