  1. I am about to update the differential on my 1948 Buick from 4:10 gear to one from 1954 (3.60). Unfortunately the "new" differential came in pieces so I dont know exactly the location of the parts, but I was planning to only change the crown wheel and pinion. Would that be enough based on that the existing differential is in good shape? Thanks in advance for your input...
  2. Thanks for the input. I am feeling quite confident to say that the car was manufactured at the CA plant. As mentioned I found some tokens when working on the car. The build manifest and some coins and a root-beer capsule. I can identify: Radio antenna Heater Window washer W Tires?? Bull Horns??
  3. Thanks for the info. Didn't realize it was a Canadian-built Buick but very interesting to get to know that. It was imported from California to Sweden some 20 years ago - I bought from the first owner in Sweden and started the renovation some 3-4 yrs ago which I am still doing. By checking some old invoices and receipts I found a person owning it in the 90s located in California so I presumed, also due to the fact that is was 99% rust-free that it didn't come from any moist part of the world. But it's nice to learn something new. I wounder why and when it was sold from Canada to the US ?! There is no way to check up this kind of information anywere, is there? Does anybody know if the wheels were painted in the same colour as the car? From what I can see from my wheels that were re-painted black some day, the color underneath looks very much "Aztec Green"-like to me. Maybe someone can enlighten me. I will try to get a photo of a build sheet that I found located under the rear sofa. Cheers from Sweden
  4. When looking on the chassis plate on my 1948 Buick Super the paint code has 3 digits. (825) The car has been repainted black many years ago but the Aztec Verde Green paint is visible on many places. But what does the 8 mean? Cheers
  5. I am restoring my 1948 Buick Super with all gauges working properly but the chrome bezel are rusty. Do anyone know of any equivalent replacements bezel that can be used ? I have searched and found the 1947-53 GM Pickup 5 Inch Chrome Gauge at https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Classic-Instruments-BZ4753-1947-53-GM-Pickup-5-Inch-Chrome-Gauge-Bezel,31373.html Do they work for the speedometer and clock? Cheers
  6. I am looking for the front and rear bumper (with or without the bumper guards) for my 1948 Buick Super. I presume the bumpers are alike for both coupes and sedans. Other parts that I am looking for are also: * rear window crank mechanism * hood ornament * rear fender side light housings (the chrome part) I am located in Sweden but will visit the Hershey Swapmeet in 2 weeks and can meet up if possible. Cheers
  7. Noticed this interesting thread just now. When I was removing the rear fenders from my 1948 Buick Super Sedanet, which has the color aztec green I could also find the remainings of the fender welt cords. The car has been re-painted once to black but from what you see from the welt cord it seems it came in the matching color. Does anybody know if the 1940s Buicks ever was equipped with different coloring of the welting? Being from Sweden, I am familiar with Saab and know that some car colors such as black and beige hade dark-red welting. But I haven't seen it on any older cars so probably it's a matter of own choice... cheers Wictor
