Quick update.....
I now have the new fuel tank back from Corey Durman and have completed installation. I could not be happier with the quality of the work. The tank is painted black per period advertising (was red). I also took the opportunity to have the front apron painted black (was red), matching period advertising and photos. I would highly recommend Corey to anyone needing sheet metal work (replacement or restoration). You can PM me if you would like his details.

I didn't know Mark well, having only met him at Hershey once. We talked for a half hour or so and he seemed like a really great guy. Does anyone know if the red 1919 Stutz Roadster he owned is in the list of cars to be auctioned?

A quick update for those interested.....
I took the roadster for a quick run this morning using an auxiliary fuel tank. I didn't get far before I had to turn around for home. Half a gallon of fuel wasn't going to get me far with this beast! The reproduction fuel tank is coming along well at Corey Durman's shop in Kent OH. The original was beyond repair and the new tank is an exact replica using the original filler, drain and fuel gauge flanges.
The top irons and bows are with Mel Draper for some major rectification work. These were built incorrectly and did not fold down into a neat stack as they should.
Still looking for an original G or H owners manual or parts manual if anyone has one they are willing to part with.
Cheers,
Peter

All,
Looking for help please. I need a replacement water manifold for my 1920 H Roadster as shown in the photo below. I am continuing with my efforts to bring the car back to operable condition but unfortunately this manifold is badly corroded internally and is leaking from numerous pin holes. Does anyone have a replacement they can spare or a master pattern enabling me to have some cast?
Thanks,
Peter

Unfortunately, my 1920 H Roadster is missing its ignition key. Could someone who has an ignition key for their 1918-20 Stutz please post some pictures of it. I am curious re the brand and design (Yale?).
Thanks,
Peter

Hi to the Model 20 Brigade,
Art Morra has been kind enough to lend me his pattern for a Model 20 spare tire bracket and hinge for the luggage rack (see attached photos). The spare tire brackets (x2 per car) are bolted to the rear of the chassis (see inserted photo) and the luggage rack hinge is pinned to the end of the spare tire bracket (see attached photo of a car with the rack fitted). I understand that these items were optional extras for the car. Some cars were fitted with nothing, some the spare tire brackets only and others also had the luggage rack. I am going to get quotes to have some cast for my car and want to check if there are any others interested in acquiring these items. Based on interest levels, I can report back with a cost quote. I will not be looking for any profit on the project.... purely cost recovery.
Please note that you will need to do some basic finishing work on the castings. Most significantly, you will need to cut the apertures for the leather straps that hold the spare tire to the brackets. You should be able to do this work with a hand drill and small round file. Additionally there will be holes to drill for fitment to your chassis. Nothing too complex or arduous. At a later time point, I can provide photos and measurements for locating the brackets on the chassis. Art also gave me a plan drawing for the luggage rack which I can also share.
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in the spare tire brackets (x2 per car) or luggage rack hinges (x2 per car) or both. I can then report back on cost.
Cheers,
Peter

Although this is a very old post (2013), does anyone know Guest KTS or better still, have a copy of the picture of the tools referenced in his post?
Thanks,

Does anyone have a list (from a spare parts listing or owners manual) and/or picture of the tools supplied by the factory with the S, G, H and K series cars? I assume the tool kit would be common across the series and Bearcat, Tourer, Coupe, Sedan and Roadster models? Perhaps there is an owner who is fortunate to have an original tool roll, jack, etc with their car? Any information or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Peter

Thanks "edinmass". I will certainly join the Stutz Club and look for the book.
Keith, can you advise where the chassis stamp would be found on the speedway 4? So, should all three numbers match up (chassis, engine and dashboard plaque)? I know that some manufacturers pulled assembled engines from a store during the assembly process such that the engine numbers don't precisely match the car numbers but are in a reasonable range of each other e.g. +/- 150.
Thanks again,
Peter

Hi,
Apologies if this topic has been covered already but I am new to Stutz cars. Question.... for a 1919-1920 Speedway 4 with an engine "as fitted by the factory", should the engine number match the "Car Number" on the dashboard plaque precisely? Alternatively, were they not matched by the factory and one would expect the two numbers to be in a reasonable range of each other.
Thank you.

Jeff,
I have no direct experience here but am told that my engine was rebuilt with Plymouth pistons. Perhaps the Mopar pistons are of similar design? Wish I could be of more help.

Here is a five page article some may find interesting. It is a very detailed description of the new Hupmobile Model 20 "B" for 1910 that was published in the December 1st 1909 issue of the Cycle and Automobile Trade Journal. There is a lot of information re mechanical specifications, paint color, trim, etc.
Cheers,
