  1. Just looked at the 41-57 Truck and Car shop catalogue. Are those the 49-52 “Side Window Reveal” upper and lower beltline molding clips? Trim polishing looks great! Did you get any windshield clips from them too?
  2. This was a great idea, but upon contacting them a couple times, was finally told the template was not with the part…😢
  3. I take it like most, it’s just a press in fit… Ah, so much to look forward to…..
  4. Hah! We sound about the same age, 73 saw me in a 68 barracuda 340S glassback, a year or so later when the gas crunch hit, it was sold for a 73 Subaru GL! But I made enough to pay off my 5 year credit union loan my dad helped me secure and the Subaru was paid for! But my car buddies never let me forget showing up my senior year in that car….”Where’s your Mopar!”😂
  5. Worth a try! Thanks! Not like I probably won’t be buying more stuff from them during the resto! I just joined you guys! With a chance meeting at a Murphy gas station in Lubbock, I met the current president, go figure!
  6. That’s great to know! The emblem was in the trunk when I bought the car and I wondered since it was a one owner car and I could see no “repaired” holes in the trunk lid denoting where it might have been and further examination shows no real flat spot in the general emblem area that doesn’t have a single thickness skin (the inner stiffener structure panels you allude to). I think this might have been a case of him buying up stuff he thought was applicable since the car was filled with extra stuff like side/rear stainless strips, windshield, rear glass and several engine components like carbs, H2O pumps and fuel pumps. It is missing an “88” on the back passenger side but I believe that’s because it had a crunched fender that was replaced and possibly with a 50 fender and the missing 88 was never replaced but the replaced side strip is the thinner pointed 50 style….I can see why folks put 50 rear taillight stainless/chrome on a 49, those are pretty snazzy, but I’ll keep my original ones! I didn’t really think the car was that rare, just adding to the text to see if someone helpful would respond, and they did! Again, thank you very much!
  7. Looked up their store, $1300 don’t sound too bad for their rebuild kit, strange that they specify it’s for 50-53, but I reckon they’ll work in a 49….
  8. Hmm, car must be rarer than I thought with few examples out there….
  9. What/who are you going with with replacement pistons at this point? Or maybe go a little bigger?
  10. And here’s the trunk lid handle latch screw…
  11. And here’s the trunk lid undersides showing the flat spots and “O” pins..
  12. Can anyone give me the location for the Rocket 88 emblem location on a 49 fastback trunk lid? Trying to think of a way to determine the location, I see there are trunk lid support areas that the emblem couldn’t fasten through so I reckon it has to go through the single thickness trunk lid areas. Maybe if someone has one they could measure from the “O” (in Oldsmobile) letter pins and/or the top left trunk lid handle Phillips screw to give 2 distances to the top emblem pin hole. I’ve tried to attach a picture or two to illustrate what I’m talking about. Here’s the emblem front/back showing the pins….
  13. Wow! That bore looks pretty rough! Great thread!
  14. Just found this thread! Following it and your YouTube channel! Found a one owner 49 Sedanette a little over a year ago that I hope to get started on this summer. Go man!
  15. Yikes.....sorry Joe, grasping at straws, I guess.....thanks for the opinion!
  16. Hmm, so I found a Fisher body book for 49, and it shows similar sheetmetals among the brands. Wouldn’t this mean that listed models share similar sheetmetal? 9
  17. Man, I was hoping that the Fisher body folks wood have cranked out a fender for multiple GM makes...
  18. Are there any GM products (Chev/Buick/Pontiac) sheetmetal that will cross over between products? Looking at a 49 Chevrolet 2 door for some body replacement parts and am trying to determine Fisher body part numbers. The Chev deluxe 2 door rear fenders look similar except for a top trim piece that goes the whole length of the fender instead of just the rear half like my Olds...But the wheel opening looks correct. Anyone have any Fisher body part number information that might show similar body part numbers between brands??
  19. Perfect! I REALLY appreciate this info. Just bought a one family owned 88 sedanette and one rear wheel arch is got some rust thru at the curve and down the front, and have seen some 98’s advertised. I have the fender skirts, so the profile is there for shrinker/stretcher work and patch panel hammering....and then there’s junkyards!! But the rest of the car is a great clean project....
  20. So a rear that is described as a 98 fender wouldn’t fit for a patch repair of a wheel opening on an 88? Does any publication list body part numbers for NOS parts....As in part number 556413? Thanks!
  21. Are the 98 and 88 fenders the same?
  22. Hello....anyone know about 49 sheetmetal?
