  1. Hi don’t know how f your engine has a water pump that has packing on the shaft but I’ll tell you what my 23 was doing the same thing found the packing on the suction side of the pump was pulling in air and in doing so it would not pull the water out of the radiator then there was no place for the afternoon coming water to go only out the over flow short drive it would be out of water.  Hope this helps.  PS the pump would not leak at the seals when setting for a week or so.

  2. Tom for what's it worth I used model a Ford rain gutters made of aluminum that did not have the folld over flap

I bought aluminum finish nails drilled the gutter so as the finish head was driven flush it did not show some required a light sanding but you sure did not notice the nails

  3. If you lube the springs lower the spring rate  there is no longer friction in the . Leaves the spring rate is rated with the friction of each leaf added to the total rate  I under stand when they start squeaking there needs some lube as you apply . Grease you give dirt and sand a place to stick now the mixture is like grinding compound

  4. Just my thoughts

Being a past president of our club about 75 members

We hold one car show a year have about 450/500 cars all years all brands

We give away 5 new memberships away each year they have to fill out a card to begin that drawing the winners get the 1st years due  free and have a current member as a mentor

We do A HotDog run once a month ( never had a hot dog though)

Call new members and invite them to go along

We do road rallies  progressive dinners  picnic in the park   all parades honoring our vets getting as much good press as possible

We have worked at keeping our car club growth moving up in numbers

We just celebrated our 50th year

The age range is 30 to 80 +

We dislike the idea of well we always did it that way sometimes  the president needs  to be a strong parent with the children LOL

  5. Yes I have the same problem

I remember back in the 60/70s G M used a small filter where, the fuel line entered the carburetor that had a small rubber set of mistrust was to keep fuel from draining back should say rubber lips not mistrust

Maybe some one could retrofit it as add on

My other thought was to install a small tank in the fuel line that would fill when the car was running and close the valve on it still would have pressure in   before restarting weeks later open valve fuel would flow to carburetor refilling the float bowl or would it just push it back to the tank

Other thought is its the heat that boils the fuel off not the drain back

  6. I cast a new seat for a check valve in a power brake unit and machined it very like a valve seat it's been working fine for 15 years.

If it should fail you just would had to push  harder on the brake pedal I don't drive it hard
