  1. I’m slowly learning with sewing upholstery that drawing lines and making patterns is extremely helpful. cut out for the side window. I’ve used 2 pieces of material and put the clear between them. Drawing the lines for the return hems has really helped me keep them nice and straight. Doing the double rolled hem I use hemming tape to hold it down on one fold. It makes it so much easier for me to line it all up.
  2. Made some progress on the hood today between birthday lunch. Not mine but my daughter. Got the rear window panel in and the rear corner panel cut and fitted but still sewing that up. Also got the side cushion sections made. Not sure if that’s what they are called.
  3. I’ve never really understood why they do that. Be like having just hood bows on a roadster, pretty useless. 😂
  4. New hood bows are fitted. Now the second attempt at making the hood.
  5. I’m going to have a couple of days off and try and re do my top. Im using better material this time, Hartz convertible top material. I used a marine type material on my first attempt and it’s very ordinary. so hopefully this time it will come up a bit nicer. made new hood bows and have covered them. The old top that’s coming off.
  6. Sounds more like a fuel vaporising issue. Not ruling out the coil could be breaking down under hot conditions though also.
  7. We tried fitting the top windshield in on grants 24 Ute. I would say it’s almost impossible trying to hold and then line up all the ball bearings. We tried it for about 6 seconds and looked at each other and said Nuh!! Pull the posts out and put it on a nice flat bench it will be much quicker and easier that way.
  8. It seemed to be still ok Mike. I agree it wouldn’t be cheap or easy to reproduce.
  9. I’ll be getting back onto the chassis next week and hopefully get it painted in satin black. I received the magneto back yesterday after having it completely rebuilt. New bearings, rewound and re magnetised. The engine is also underway with its rebuild.
  10. I left the gate open to the veggie garden once and I was the one that nearly got shot. We only have 3 cows so there wasn’t too much damage. They are not allowed on my lawn.
  11. Hahahaha that would cut into my lawn mowing time Doug and nothing is allowed to do that.
  12. Very sad to see but we are all getting older and the younger generation has no interest in working hard for a decent dollar. It seems they want to work less for more dollars. So it’s very hard to pass on any old trade to younger people. Glenn and Rosemary are such lovely people to deal with. They sold me the dies and plans for the luggage rack for peanuts when you look at the quality of what Glenn had made. I have bought quite a few bit from them and everything is always perfectly reproduced.
  13. Thanks for the history guys keep it coming. 👍
  14. They would be a bit tricky wouldn’t they.
  15. Hey Nige are the retainer springs available at all.
  16. Welcome to the forum. All I will add is it’s a beautiful looking car, I love it and just enjoy it.
  17. The ring gear could be badly worn and locking it up. Once it’s stuck it generally won’t make any noise. If it’s real hot weather and it stop the intake manifold might be getting really hot and vaporising the fuel. I have separated my intake manifold from my exhaust manifold to prevent this happening, modern fuel doesn’t need to be pre heated like the old fuel the cars ran on back in the early days.
  18. Sounds like your starter is locking in when you try start it. If it’s flooding that will make it hard to start. You may need to regulate the fuel pressure back a little and also check your needle and seat.
  19. Ron’s had Bob building a new radiator for him too. Us dodge’y folk are keeping him busy. crank hole being fitted
  20. Another beautiful radiator completed by Bob up at sunshine batteries and radiators. Thanks heaps for great workmanship Bob.
  21. It actually looks like what they call ink colours to me.
  22. Steering box is back together and bolted back onto the chassis. It all went back together beautifully and feels a lot smoother to turn than it did. I rotated the worm sprocket ⚙️ if that’s what you’d call it 180 degrees to try and get it to sit in a new spot when travelling straight ahead. getting all ready to go back together with a new shaft, bushes and thrust bearings. Setting it up close to what it needs to be on the bench before mounting it back onto the chassis. Bolted back onto the chassis all finished ready to fill with semifluid grease.
  23. Finished making the new shaft for the steering box today and got the gear pressed back on. I’m hoping the new bearings and bushes will be in tomorrow, and I can reassemble it. For the 24 steering box do you guys recommend grease or the really heavy steering gear oil. I think penrite do one which is what I put in the 29 roadster.
