  2. Additional info on the origin of the transmission. From The Michael Dingman collection, South Hampton NH.
  3. Professionally rebuilt 1940 Lincoln transmission, 18T main drive/26T cluster. $1,200 OBO, plus shipping. I am in Massachusetts, and pickup or delivery is a possibility. For example, I am going to the Epping NH Swap meet Sunday, 7/25, and again on 9/25. It may also be available for pickup at Stowe VT swap on 8/13-14, Epping 8/29 or 9/26, and Hershey.
  4. I have a long box marked "1940 Lincoln convertible parts". It was in a 40 ft. container of parts I got. The parts look like window channels, weather seals, and other similar window parts. I have no plans for them, so the 1st person to respond to this post can have them for the cost of shipping. Some of the parts are fairly long, but most of them should fit in a shipping tube. Note; the windshield wiper mechanisms are not included in these parts. Respond to this post if you would like more photos or descriptions. Russ tube.
  5. I have several V-12 crankshafts, and the best one of the lot, measures 2.0380" on the mains, and 2.105" on the crank pins, or about .020" under size. Are there .020 main and rod bearings available for these cranks ? If so I will be interested in selling it. Thank you.

  7. The spring around the OD of the drum helps to reduce drum expansion from heat during hard braking, which reduces fade.
  8. The correct drum bearing grease is not modern. The right product is "StaLube Heavy Duty Drum Brake Bearing Grease" It is a very heavy fibrous grease,
  9. Those discs are called expanders.. When a wheel cylinder is honed during rebuild, the expander fits inside the cup to aid in sealing against the bore of the wheel cylinder.
  10. That fitting is called a threaded sleeve."nut". If it's like the late '40s Fords it is 3/16" for 3/16" copper vacuum line. The old Weatherhead number for that 3/16" nut is 6100x3. The local NAPA store had them in stock as they have been around for years. They still use the old Weaherhead number for the the later Eaton fittings. The principal of the threaded sleeve is when the nut is tightened into the female thread, the tapered part of the nut at the end compresses on the tubing for a seal.
