  2. Hi Guys Here is a youtube video of flying Dutchman water pumps
  3. Hi Guys I just came back in after doing it , job took 15 minutes to pop it off God bless Buick designers and engineers for such an easy removal. I had nightmares of doing this job from my memories of doing it on a modern car only thing that took a minute to figure out was the position of one removal bolt as I could not find it at first then saw it and whoosh off it came
  4. Hi Dave ; I may attempt this today or Wednesday I forgot to ask if you have a diagram or picture of the pump so I can see what to do in advance before doing it on the car? also what is the bypass? and pump block ,,,,, is that a separate item or another name for the pump body? AJ
  5. Hi Dave; Thank you for the information and wonderful instructions , It will make it so much easier with this information AJ
  6. Thank you guys for the replies and info, is the pump easy to take out? All the work I do is outside so have to do it on a nice day can I do it w/o removing the radiator or nose?
  7. I test started and drove the car up and down the driveway it had no exhaust system just the manifold shifted great and went smoothly in forward and reverse directions I had it idle for appx 1/2 hour and it went to temp 180 - 200 and stayed there although it was loud I could hear an intermittent clangity clang clang noise from the front eventually I heard a squeal then a very fine mist was coming from the front being blown back by the fan I could slightly wobble the fan so assume from all the above that the water pump is kaput am I correct that the water pump is bad? can it be salvaged? I had flushed the system prior to the test and took out the thermostat (which was covered in rust) I wanted to grease it also before doing a test but found no grease nipple on it
  8. thank you all for the great replies and thank you Bob for the pic of the napa seals , I went to 8 places and no one would bother checking when I brought the glass bowl , I went through my old car stuff and found some better cork material and made another gasket unlike the others I made this cork seemed to work and held back the gas from leaking I gave it a quick test up and down the driveway so I know 1st and reverse go good with no bad noises
  9. Location is long Island NY , I went to a couple of good local stores , napa was one , I will try AutoZone in a day or two I use to make carb kits out of cork years ago , but recall even though the cork was suppose to be gas proof , tiny pieces would disintegrate and find their way into the jets so I stopped using cork would like to find a rubber one

  11. I checked and the bowl rested flat against the body with no rocking
  12. That's what I did but all the o rings they gave me were either wrong size or to thick , also they all had a round cross section and I think the original was a flat round seal
  13. Had a successful first start of the car yesterday but the fuel filter glass bowl was leaking badly I just came back from a few different parts stores and got a batch of o rings / seals for the gas filter bowl but none worked and fuel leaked out of the glass bowl What is the correct part number of the seal or what is the seal everyone uses for these AC fuel filters with the glass bowl? I want to proceed with a driving test for the car but can not yet as the filter glass bowl is leaking like a sieve
  14. Today was a happy day I drained the gas tank and put in fresh fuel I picked up a battery locally popped it in the car poured a little gas down the carb and cranked her up spun a few times then whoopee she started right up she sounded great and went into a beautiful idle I let her run for a few seconds appx a minute then shut her off as that was the only test I wanted to do today Things to do yet before next test I still have to buy a new battery as the new battery I got from the store had a date of 8/2014 its old stock and does not charge fully so I will return it and get another I have to replace gasket / seal on AC Filter around the glass bowl as it was dripping when the car was running .....anyone know the correct size or number of seal?
  15. Thanks guys for the info and pic , now that I can see the correct type to get I just placed an order so should have it soon

  18. does anyone else have problems with the r45 plug not preforming well? should I return them and get the r46 plugs off the web instead?
  19. I went back to the parts store today for the R46 plugs I was correct that they were a longer electrode tip as the guy was not giving me R46s I had asked for he was giving me R46S _ _ So I asked him for R45 plugs and he had 8 of them in stock and they looked correct so I purchased them instead PS a quick question the metal gasket was not on the plug and was loose in the box which side of the metal gasket faces the bottom of the plug?
  20. Beautiful Car and good luck with the sale / trade
  21. thank you both for your replies can I use a filter on a non filter bowl? also is there suppose to be a metal washer / spacer on the bottom of the glass bowl where the bracket holds the bowl in place? When I removed the bowl I noticed after I cleaned it that when I put it back on it did not tighten as though it needed a spacer on the bottom of the glass bowl
  22. Hi Guys I got the glass bowl off the ac filter and it is empty inside is there suppose to be a screw in filter element inside the glass bowl ? if so does anyone know the part number?
  23.
